They are already considering making Derby County take a points deduction over this.

 

Bottom Line is the tie was nil nil when it happened and they made two subs on 90 minutes, one of which went on to score two goals. Whoever was the fifth and whoever were the sixth are simply down to which number the fourth official chose to display first.

Did the extra sub have a bearing on the game, yes. Open and shut case.

Which proves they knew the substitution rules and broke them. If they didn't ask the fourth official how many substitutes had been made, or didn't make a note themselves, then they haven't made all reasonable enquiries.

Throw them out. Even if that gives Cambridge a bye.

 

Never heard of this concussion substitute rule before which some are claiming could be the case last night. So basically you can bring on an extra sub if a player suffers concussion, why?, an injury is an injury. I don't recall the game stopping for a head injury anyhow?

They'll say it was an error and didn't know it happened. So they'll either be told replay, or they'll get a fine and progress to the next round regardless. I don't think they'll be chucked out and us go through in their place.

 

I'm a Cambridge fan so I like to keep my expectations low. So either St Alban's (just around the corner) or Gateshead (a recreation of the 2014 National League Play Off Final)....if either./both teams get through the next round obviously .

 

Except , you couldn't see the quality in the players under Parky. You repeatedly said at the time that we had no chance of getting promotion. And you kept predicting that we'd be in a relegation battle in our first two seasons on L1, which we never were.

Your constant criticism would have more validity if you'd been able to see quality when we had it. But you didn't.

 

It's true, might have even only come in this season, but I would have thought that the offending club would have to claim at the time that they are using this rule..?

My understanding of the concussion rule is if one is granted to Exeter, an extra sub regardless must be granted to Bradford, therefore if Bradford were never notified of this happening and having an extra sub, then they can't claim it happened. Also the concussion rule must be sanctioned, you can't just claim concussion and make an extra sub, it all has to be notified.

 

I think its to encourage clubs to take off players with head injuries. Some players had been carrying on when there's a possibility they had concussion because the team may have to play with 10 if all subs were used for example.

If they’ve broken the rules they should be kicked out no ifs buts or maybes. Lewis Hamilton received a 5 place grid penalty for a matter of millimetres, even the red bull boss said it would have made little impact but that’s not why rules are in sport. Give any leeway and it opens teams up to take the piss more.

 

Maybe us Bradford City fans are not as clued up as we think, Id have thought something like this would have been picked up when Exeter made the call for a 6th sub.

 

Something similar happened to City I think versus Brentford when we broke the rule in the FA cup a few years back,
A replay was ordered If i remember so expect the same

 

Surely a concussion substitution over and above the five has to be cleared through the fourth official ? They can't just send on another player and claim the one taken off was concussed.
