    No point playing it again.

We've played them three times and not managed to beat them! Let them continue. We'll only get hammered at Cambridge anyway!

Lets not make a fuss, we know what the outcome of another 90/120 minutes would be against them....

Yeah but we knew this at the start of the season, hardly a shock that players that don't score aren't scoring a third of the way into the season.

When you appoint officials who have no idea what they are doing as can be seen watching many games at this level, it should be no surprise they can't count either.

I refer you to the post above:
"It is not the role of the referee or fourth official to inform a team when they are making too many substitutions".

Some posters on here recognised this issue at the start of the season and before the transfer window closed. Once Angol had been injured, we were forced to look in the leftover pile. No offence to Lavery and Robinson but I suspect no other club would expect the two of them to be key goalscoring players in a promotion squad.

We should have recruited better and spent more of the budget in that area before the window closed. And that's not with the benefit of hindsight.

Our performances and more importantly results, are simply a reflection of what we failed to do over the summer. Whether we can turn that around in January is questionable imo.

Likewise, they’ve not managed to beat us in 3 attempts (either legally or over 90 minutes).
Pros and cons - another 12 hour round trip, risk of injuries etc…..vs financial potential from either replaying or being awarded the tie, and of course a potential cup run (albeit the cynic in me doesn’t expect that).
Personally the stubborn in my would say appeal and push for as good an outcome as we can

    Sorry I missed that.

So they can't allow Exeter to progress, the score was 0-0 when this happened so you can't claim it had no impact. If they were 5-0 and this happened there is a sorry we messed up but the game was won argument.

Also it is not our mistake, so why should we have to Travel back down to Exeter to replay the game?

It's harsh but someone at Exeter has to take it on the chin. If they were a non league side the FA would probably kick them out no questions asked.

Exeter fans seem resigned to being thrown out of the competition (as per their forum).

I think the one thing Bradford City should be making clear, in their submission to the FA, is that we should not be asked to travel back down to Exeter for yet another fixture.

And yes, you are right, the FA have a track record of harsher punishments on non-league teams, who have been thrown out for lesser offences than this.

I seem to remember Tranmere beating Sunderland, and in the last five minutes a Tranmere player was sent off and the manager put a sub on by mistake which took them back to full strength. I believe they got let off by the FA and they’ll probably let Exeter off.

That must be why Andy K said Lavery was warming up when City had already used 5 subs.
    Award the tie to City.

If they've broken the rules (which it looks like they have) I really think they'll be chucked out. So it will be Cambridge vs Bradford after all!:snigger:

If a ref doesn't send off a player after two yellows, the game doesn't get replayed. I expect nothing to happen but maybe Exeter to forgo some points. However then again what's to stop people doing this on purpose

Not sure what you mean "forgo some points" if was an FA Cup game.

Different governing bodies. If it were the EFL I would expect a shrug of the shoulders and a don't do it again, but this is the FA and they are the ones who set the rules so they have to stick by them,

Absolutely no sour grapes, and if it were two other teams I would say the same (and the other way around) but the rules are five subs and if they have broken that rule an appropriate punishment has to be given because if they don't the precedent is set that will be used by the next team who do it.

    The only suitable punishments are

    1. Throw Exeter out and award us the tie
    2. Replay at our ground - why should we have to pay to go there again when they broke the rules
    3. Replay at a neutral venue

Points deduction can not possibly happen, any more than someone being thrown out of the FA Cup for doing the same in a league match.

The tie was nil nil at the time of the extra sub.

It's hard to claim there was no bearing on the game.

The EFL would probably deduct points from Bolton out of habit.
