Slightly different viewpoint for me Bronco. Football started for me in 1961 going to Avenue with my dad. It started with City for me when I started "stalking" my future wife back in 1974, she was nuts about City and had followed them since the mid sixties. Sadly she passed away last December. Our biggest achievement was probably when we got my Dad down to Valley Parade to watch a game that didn't involve Avenue, the 5.1 cup replay win against Oldham.

Yes. It was one of John Hendie's favourite games. If I remember it right Terry Dolan was caretaker manager at the time. That's what I think got dad down to Valley Parade, the fact that TD was an ex Avenue player.

Remember it well, it was absolutely freezing cold with snow around the edge of the pitch and in the stands. City fans had demonstrated at Boundary Park about Cherry's sacking in the first game. I hopped over the wall at the front of the stand by the dressing rooms to congratulate Sticks when the game had finished. I think he scored 4 out of the 5 goals didn't he?

Last comment or we will be getting our knuckles rapped for going off topic.

Terry Dolan paid £40,000, for Ron who scored 19 goals in 43 games in 1987/88 season to become the City's top scorer, 23 goals from 53 appearance's whilst at Valley Parade, what would we give for a striker who could score double figures from the January transfer window.

£40k back then just adjusting for inflation is £115k. I wouldn't want to think what a 20 goal a season player would actually cost now but I'd guess more than that

guessing millions for an in-form player. if Cole Stockton carries on as he is, he is going to cost a pretty penny.

i know its not the most reputable source but according to transfermarkt, Connor Chaplin was bought by Ipswich from Barnsley for £788,000. (other sources do say its "around £750,000")

Couldn't agree more Mike. The T&A s a ha, Premium coverage is a joke that I suspect is backfiring on them. So many City fans appear to be very pissed off with this sad little ploy. If it was premium might be worth paying for, but it's all banal, who gives a xxxx information you can get elsewhere all the time. T&A have got this so wrong. I realize local newspapers are desperately trying to keep going, making some money. But this premium nonsense is so wrong minded - it's only serving to turn Bradford City fans away from the increasingly sportingly weak T&A.

I recall Sticks and Ron playing together or am I imagining that? Swindon away on a Tuesday night springs to mind at a game that was previously postponed due to fog-where we drew 2-2

Sticks only went on loan to Oldham so we could get Ronny. When he came back we sold him to villa for a monster amount

Sticks went on loan to Oldham and then returned after 10 games so yes you would have seen him and Rocket together.

Yes, Sticks and Futcher played together in the same starting XI a lot in the 1987/88 season. Sticks used to wear the number 11 shirt and play on the left wing!
