Walsall away a few years ago. Men swearing smoking and farting and snow coming down wet cold and windy and we lost. Never been back. Aged 12 now.

My old man was a season ticket holder at Leeds. He used to take me with him, until when I was eleven, I suddenly saw the light and decided to support Bradford City as "it's where I was born". In fairness, he never held it against me, but I do feel sorry for him. If it was my son deciding to do that (me taking him to City, and then him deciding he wants to be a Leeds fan), I think I'd offer to take him to Elland Road, and then leave him there.

Unfortunately as football isn't really much of a thing over here, my boy is only interested in watching the big teams in the Premiership or Europe. He sometimes sits with me on a Saturday afternoon watching ifollow, but I feel its more of a sympathy thing for me, rather than a genuine interest. He did feel my wrath when I banned him from wearing a Man Utd shirt that his mother bought him though!

My son has really lost the verve for football at the moment. Got a season ticket but off out on Saturday and missing football. Instead I'm taking a West Ham fan in his place!

i'll be honest i haven't really got the buzz back yet, i watched the Exeter game but football on the TV has never really excited me. I've got season tickets again (although won't be at a game for a couple of weeks) but its been that long since i last went things have changed to the routine i used to do. My dad dropped us off for 6 or 7 years but he's too ill to drive now and the fish shop we used to use never reopen after the Covid restrictions were lifted. Seem like daft points but its part of what i looked forward to and now its not the same. Going to forest on Wednesday, hopefully that will rekindle a bit of the passion.

My kids are both girls. One came once and it was "too loud" the other only ever went three times, but still insisted on going to Wembley. I think they just wanted to know where their dad went on a Saturday and once they had established that were satisfied.

Overall I'm quite pleased because they dont infringe on "my time"

Took my daughter to her 1st game aged 3 the classic 4-4v Derby she cried because of the noise. Later she had a season ticket with her 2 brothers and me for years until she had her own family, now waiting till the grandkids are old enough to introduce to the city family. They will be the 5th generation in my lifetime to be ticket holders

Mine blows hot and cold. But ultimately does as I say!!!

Its a hard sell sometimes and ive found myself losing interest and struggling to get enthusiastic last season and beyond...

Mine is like me, prefers away games. Thats an easy sell.

Don't be silly. They don't go out until after the Lord Clyde shuts.

Great post! I feel the question can be broadened as I bet there's a few who have lost their city mojo during this long break. But i guess kids can be more fickle than more hardened long term fans.

There were several times last season when we'd switch off ifollow after another sh!t show and say well at least we're warm and at home! My wife even said she wasn't gonna bother with a season ticket this year at one point. I just did my best lip quiver and said ok I'll just have to go on my own. She came round!

I hope your daughter doesn't get converted to leeds. My previously massive city fan sister married a leeds fan, he still goes with my nephew. So I've got to be all grown up and pretending to be happy when they do well, otherwise mum tells me off (I'm 46...).

Personally I can't wait to get back to VP, I'm expecting I'll feel quite emotional after such am awful year. It's just in my dna! I think it's important we play well on Saturday as there will probably be a fair few floating fans debating whether to sack it off!

    Harrumph!
Flog them to within an inch of their miserable lives.
Withhold food and drink until they come round.

The main use for my kids these days is as a Taxi Driver. It's a joy when your kids grow up, learn to drive, get a car and don't want to be seen in a pub with their dad. An absolute joy.

Yeah and it's brilliant. Every matchday I'm now out getting lathered with the lads again.

    Top work City.

Thought I'd share this with with you. Bought st for our then 4 year old grandson last year but of course he has been unable to physically attend. He is so excited for this week so we really hope we can do something we don't normally do and actually beat Oldham.
We joined him in the 1903 club but errors have been made(not City's fault) but Mick Shackleton's dealing with this has been superb(his staff-I know). I am anticipating our grandson's reaction when the parcel arrives addressed to him. Also he is a big Harry Potter fan.

I think the pandemic has made a lot of people realise that we're not really in control of the path our own lives take in the sense of we never know if we're going to be locked down again etc and that there are many things that go beyond what for some is almost a default routine of working Monday to Friday, football on Saturday, hangover on Sunday, repeat.

And I reckon many people have realised there is a bigger and broader life beyond going to football matches.
