Has anyone here got kids and found they have completely lost interest in City in the last 18 months?

I couldn’t get them to watch the games last year, and I’ve been trying to rally the family troops ready for Saturday and they’re barely interested. They can’t name any of the squad and can only remember players who have long since left.

I really hope they get back into it this season.

Mine has just turned 16 and has properly discovered the opposite sex in the last 18 months. She had a season ticket for the last 3 years but I get the impression she would rather be anywhere else on the planet than at VP on a match day now.
What makes it even worse is that her current boyfriend is a Leeds season ticket holder.
I just pray her disinterest in football continues and she isn’t persuaded to venture with him to Leeds games.
If she did It would make my little lad quite happy when I write her out of my Will and he gets the lot.

Don’t have kids myself, but know of a few people who lost interest the last 18 months. Think it’s with football in general as much as anything, IMO it was terrible behind closed doors but obviously had to happen that way.

I suppose being away from live football for 18 months will have allowed people to occupy themselves with other activities. Inevitably there will be some who will have lost that little bit of enthusiasm.

My lads are 7 and 5 and within the last 18 months have discovered the world of football. England's success in the Euro's helped fuel their interest further so for the first time this season I'll be taking them to watch the mighty Bantams.

I've bought my 7 year old his first season ticket, but sadly there wasn't another spare seat next to me for the 5 year old.

I'm looking forward to taking them along to their first game. Sadly it won't be this Saturday.

That 2nd paragraph is very concerning. That's when parents start asking themselves "where did we go wrong?"

My 2 lads aged 11 and 6 are desperate to get back .

Oldest has been loads and really missed it and can't wait to get back, he's football mad!!

Youngest has only been a couple of times but has just joined the local junior team and can't wait to start going .

Hopefully the atmosphere at VP starting on Saturday will show kids and adults what they have been missing

Its little wonder that kids have become disengaged given the poor matchday experience and low quality of football/success. Hopefully the improvements made to the ground and a better season on the pitch can re-engage people.

Tell her to dump him immediately. Although there’s still hope, my wife was a bit of a Leeds supporter when we met but after 43 years of marriage she’s converted. Not that she ever goes to watch any football match.

Good luck keeping the peace each match if the 5 year old wants to come too

It’s important to remember as well that everything seems a lot longer when you’re a child, 18 months of not going will feel like an incredibly long time to them. With some it could be a simple case of getting back into the routine, hopefully some good results as well to bring them back.

You need reporting to the authorities what kind of parent let’s their children mix with the unwashed and scaley feckwits that attend that place down the 621 .

Me and her mother have cried ourselves to sleep on numerous occasions thinking “where did we go wrong.”
The fact that my wife is also a season ticket holder makes it doubly difficult to understand how we’ve reached this point in our lives.
We thought of kicking her out but we’ve had her since she was a newborn baby and she’s almost part of the family now.
Will probably have to just accept we’ve failed as parents and hope the little lad doesn’t stab us in the back(and twist the knife)like she has.
Right I’m off to rock gently to and fro in a corner while sobbing quietly to myself.

There’s a picture of him standing in my kitchen with a Leeds shirt on somewhere on the “dark web”

My two boys aged 14 and 12 gave up around 2 years ago. A combination of Rupp, football quality and teenagerdom. No chance they will return as a ST but hope they may return for the odd games especially if City are successful this year.

You’re too kind. I bought mine season tickets and will be making them come to the game on Saturday and indeed all home games - they have no choice in the matter!!

From the age of about 22 through to maybe 30 I wasn't fussed about watching City.
I'd been every home and most away games from 1987 through to 2001.
Don't get me wrong I attended away games within a 100 miles and the odd home game but I was getting my life sorted out.
The season when McCall returned 1st time got me back into supporting the team with a passion and now my lad has been supporting City since he was 3 we get to most away games and always have season tickets.
    He loves it!!

My lad has gone the complete opposite talks about football and city day and night at the minute. He has gone to his grans until Friday with the Mrs and siblings. Every outfit he took was football related with the majority city stuff. He will be well liked in Lytham this week. Tbh I probably wouldn't have bought a ST this season if it wasn't for him.
