George Long at Sheffield United was transfer listed at Sheffield United at the end of the season so could well be of consideration, at 24 and close to 200 league appearances

 

That would be an upgrade on Doyle IMO.

Why didn’t he sign the contract when it was offered like Gibson did ?

Gibson is a young player, probably on peanuts. I doubt clubs will have been queuing round the block for his signature.

Doyle on the other hand is entitled to negotiate the best deal he can. Would you sign the first deal you got and not try negotiate? Of course you wouldn't. It's utterly stupid to expect him to do that.

 

How long do you give someone to decide? It's not like he was offered the deal before lunch time today.

 

How do you know his personal sell by date had passed?

 

This is my understanding, I might be wrong so stick to me if I am.

You get 30 days from the date of your offer to accept before it can be withdrawn, that was May 17th it's now June 21, my maths isn't the greatest in the world but by my reckoning that's over 30 days.

He's had ample time to sort out a new deal, they have chosen not to keep him.

Maybe my understanding is wrong and Edin is just mean.

 

I'd be happy with that, but imagine anyone with half a pay packet could out-bid us.

Literally any of Scunthorpe, Burton or Barnsley are more likely destinations, dependant on their requirements.

I will be expecting a few more players I've never heard of who we won't have any competition to sign.

Not sure that’s true, but if it’s something you can use to criticise those concerned by the way the club is being run, then keep going son...!

They have possibly been talking with his agent and or him during that time, they obviously haven't been able to reach a deal that both parties are happy with so have withdrawn the offer and moved on.

But because we all hate Edin so much right now, we are making a mountain out of a normal footballing situation.

We are not party to the dealings. I would have liked to have kept Doyle but perhaps he was asking to much. Another consideration might have been his breakthrough in the Irish squad which means he might miss matches. So I am disappointed but waiting to see who we now bring in
