Not sure you can take stats away, they’re there or not. Point is if you just look at his record in England if we brought in a 23 year old who’d played at as many clubs with that scoring record doubt we’d be calling him a proven striker. Bobby Cambell wasn’t at any decent level which is why he ended up in division 4.

My point is he was still a kid. Not even fully grown. It's like saying McBurnie is a poor striker based on what he did in our first team, so yes, you can take away what he did at 16/ 17/ 18

However it also highlights that you can't write a player off until he gets settled at a club and kicks on, like Campbell and Wells did with us. Who knows, bradford city could be the club Lee Angol is waiting for.

 

The last paragraph was my whole point, just because someone isn’t proven doesn’t mean they can’t do well at this level. Unless they’re clearly amateur like Bruenker.

 

To be fair @JonButterfield you seem to be Meh on all the signings to date. Have you handed back your ST in disgust?

 

Interesting Connor McAleny is 28 and has scored 50 goals in his career nearly half of those last season. One season wonder?
Angol is 26 and scored 85 all be it in a lot more appearances but as others have said with the right management and if he can stay fit hopefully we will have the second striker we need

I don't disagree, but how mad is that when the whole objective of the game is to get the ball in the back of the net, there are so few players who can actually do that with any sort of consistency!

 

That helps a little but we still don’t know who Tom Banks really was or why he has a trophy in his name. It’s going to be one of life’s great mysteries, similar to why Stuart got an extended contract when it was going so wrong. Our why Dylan Mottley Henry was re-signed. Sorry Mods for going off transfer topic but after 206 pages I don’t think we’ll sign anyone else so let’s get to the bottom of Tom Banks mystery.

And no, Cook is a good signing, Eisa should be a good signing (although inconsistent), and I absolutely accept that there are no perfect players at this level.

But as I've alluded to in another, rather detailed post, Adams' signings pound-for-pound at Morecambe were very ineffective; what he achieved, he achieved largely with the players already in situ.

So it literally DOES NOT MATTER if our signings are rubbish - and it does not mean we're doomed to failure.

So no, I won't be handing back my season ticket, I'll be expecting the club to finish around midtable, anything better being a bonus!

Whoever starts upfront for us this season, in my opinion has a better chance of success than our strikers of late due to us actually starting the season with some sort of game plan. Any striker coming to the club over the last few seasons has been doomed to failure before they've even kicked a ball, such was the pathetic organisation structure of the club. With a manager knows what he wants from his players now in place, i could see Cook and/or Angol hitting doubel figures

 

How can he be a one season wonder when he smashed it at Oxford? In his one and only season in L2, he scored for fun in a poor side.

 

Could be that Charlie Wood gets a little bit of game time.
