@Tight1-0Victory@Tight1-0Victory you are forgetting how cyclic football is. Next season only 3 clubs L2 have been in the PL. just because we are struggling on the pitch doesn't mean we are struggling off the pitch.

Oldham, swindon , Sheffield Wednesday, derby and rochdale are having real difficulties at the moment.

This sense of entitlement is disturbing and toxic to the club.

Do you know the one team I feel sorry for——year on year just missing out on getting out of non league*******. Wrexham. Always nearly there. Not a fan of their following supporter nutters but very frustrating for the club

I think if we're honest as a fan base, we know that we're actually doing okay financially, we're not badly run in the same way that Bolton, Blackpool and most recently Sheffield Wednesday have been, and Bury obviously went bust because they were run so poorly.

However, with equal honesty, we're probably bottom five in terms of success since the turn of the millennium. We've had four relegations and one promotion, several indifferent seasons, and two that really captured the imagination with some incredible cup runs.

Thanks to the sale to Rupp and Rahic, we're back to being at the bottom of the pile in terms of a ratio of expectations-to-achievements. I'm sure like many posters on this forum, it hurts being in League Two and it's not nice to dissect the undeniable reality of the situation - we shouldn't be in League Two, IMHO, we're a big fish in a small pond, but we're here on merit unfortunately.

We need to turn this big oil tanker of a club round, and while there's signs of green shoots like @bantamdave41@bantamdave41 says, we need that to bear fruit pretty quickly.

If we're crap again this season, everyone on this board will be questioning why a guy who was never interested in football bought this club, then entrusted it to Rahic, then entrusted it to Rhodes, then entrusted it to Ryan. For Rupp's sake, Ryan needs to win the football equivalent of the lottery to save Rupp becoming public enemy number one, and I really believe that.

No more outgrown it than Huddersfield and they will be back there in the next five years. Guaranteed.

Look at some league tables from 1970 and you'll be amazed how things go around and what clubs have been at the depths only to rise again.

Arsenal are the only team in English football not to have been relegated since the war.

By the way, worst run club in England has to be Stockport County, right?

They were Championship/Division One when I started watching, had all these foreign players, went all the way down to Conference North and dropped to part time football, although now they're in the play offs fighting to get back into the league with a new owner seeking to take them back to full time football.

Still, that's pretty drastic... Luckily for us, we bottomed out in League Two!

Taking the 2003/4 season when in the following December Rhodes took full control, City finished 23rd in the second tier, 43rd in the pyramid. Stockport finished 19th in the third tier, so 63rd in the pyramid.

This season City finished 83rd, Stockport 95th. We’re 40 places lower, they’re 32 places lower.

When Stefan bought City we finished 5th in league one, so 49th in the pyramid, Stockport finished 125th.

Last 17 years under Rhodes/Rupp we’re -40 places or -24 in Rupp’s era. Stockport are +30 places in the last five years.

Excluding Bury and Macclesfield, I think only Scunthorpe (51st to 90th = -39 places), Bolton (44th to 71st = -27 places), Wigan (45th to 68th = -23 places) and Sunderland (17th to 48th = -39 places) are close to the number of places City have fallen down the pyramid in the last five years.

Might be wrong, and the numbers might be a little bit out, I’d need to do some better research than on my phone in the social club, but either way, the last five years at City have been amongst the worst half dozen or so in the top four divisions.

That alone is enough to say Rupp and Sparks need to do better.

    Yikes!

We can also factor in that only Bradford, Bolton and Swindon have ever fallen from Premier League to League Two. Wigan narrowly avoided becoming team number four!

Mud sticks with all the poor decisions that have gone over the last few years. It will take a good season for people to start having more confidence. The current cloak and dagger stuff with the new manager just adds to the already confused state of the club.

Oldham were in the PL in 92/93 and were relegated at the end of the following season and are still in league two, Bolton, Coventry and Swindon have found their way out of the division and Swindon back into it again. It will be interesting where the court case involving the two ex City players Lee Power and Michael Standing, and allegedly Gareth Barry, ends up.

Depressing! TBH it feels like we are declining club as well. We must improve or we could end up like Stockport!

"Cloak and Dagger"!!. What absolute nonsense. Just because the Club chooses to do its business in a confidential and thus professional manner rather than telling the world and his wife minute by minute what is going on and thereby rendering the new Manager in Breach of Contract and open to legal action, you think that's confused.
Having been at the top level of a business many times larger than BCFC, I don't see confusion in this case I see clarity and logic of thinking and action. To have kept things confidential is the polar opposite of what you suggest.

I agree with you about the confidentiality and you seem to have experience of this, so why say anything that points fans in a certain direction.

Ryan will earn plaudits for approaching and securing the services of a successful manager, deservedly so.

It looks like we got the deal Ryan wanted over the line, but the handling has felt a little haphazard - it's been the world's worst kept secret for weeks and weeks, and at a higher, more competitive level where opposition fanbases take offence at every slight nod and notion I don't think the approach will prove very popular!

It's felt like a bit of a game, our own fanbase has been successfully managed throughout (moreorless), but it's felt a bit clumsy and at times a risky approach.

I'd like to see the machinations of our next appointment feel a little bit more professional, personally. Does that seem fair?

Good learning experience for Sparks, though,
