Are we the worst run club in English football?

Is there any club out there failing as badly as us?

We are the only club anywhere near our size in League Two. Even Bolton, who nearly went night night, bounced back straight away. It didn't even seem particularly difficult in the end.

But here we are, back in L2 ... Again. Struggling to get out... Again.

Is there a team in the EFL that can challenge us for the purest sh!tshow? Or are we in a league all our own for biggest failure?

We are not a big club in football terms . Spent most of our time in the lower divisions with a very brief spot in the limelight.
Threads like this must be a complete wind up.

There are dozens of smaller clubs above us no matter what.

    Luton.
    Wycombe.
    Accrington.
    Fleetwood.
    Lincoln.
    Burton.
    Mk Dons.
    AFC Wimbledon.
    Doncaster.
    Shrewsbury.
    Rochdale.
    Cheltenham.
    Cambridge.
    Morecambe.
    Newport.
    Forest Green.
    Salford.
    Exeter.
    Carlisle.
    Leyton Orient.
    Crawley.
    Stevenage.

You gotta quit with these pathetic excuses.

I think we are doing pretty badly, it has to be said. But you only have to look at the league tables over the last three years and the number of managers we've gone through to confirm that. Massive rebuilding job needed and I believe it will be 2-3 years before we get promoted from this league. It will be horrible but now more than ever we need patience because you cannot buy yourself out of this league. It needs something special and something really ugly to get out of league two. We need to start making progress again, starting with this season. Get a manager in, get players in, get a backroom and data analysis all set up. Let's see how we can do with a blank slate and don't sack the manager until the end of the season.

    Good post.

Can't improve without accepting where we are - the absolute worst performing club in England, pound for pound. Size and budget.

Where do you think we sit among football league clubs taking into account of income and expenditure, tradition, potential.
I would say top end of league one what do you think. Anything above is over Achieving and yes we are under achieving at the moment

Top six League One easily, holding our own in the Championship on our better days.

No way are we smaller than Barnsley.

Some of those are in the same league as us, so not actually above us are they. Its not an excuse , its a fact, we are exactly where we were when i started watching city in the 1970's. Small in football terms

Possibility back watching the game next season yet some prefer to knock the clubs passed, give if a rest and at least try and see some positives in our new begining.
We've endured 14 terrible months with this pandemic for Christ sake let's have a bit of positivity.

It's also a fact that many of those clubs weren't above us, isn't it? Where were Fleetwood and Accy in the 70's?

It IS an excuse, we have been out performed massively by most in that list.

We've let clubs from non league obscurity zoom right passed us because of our terrible performance as a club.

Who's next to overtake us? Guiseley? Farsley? Halifax? But as long as we're bottom half of League Two, that's where we should be?

    Give me a break.

We should be finishing above every single team in that list NO EXCUSES.

Not being negative, mate, I'm asking for realism and the question is fair.

If it wasn't fair, there would be names of teams performing worse than us by now.

I really hope this is the END of us performing so incredibly badly, and I'm not saying it isn't, am I?

Trying hard not to swear at this guy. He is a total and utter..... We have spent all but around 10 years since 1903 in the bottom two divisions. We are a distinctly average club. To change that requires huge investment Man City style from overseas owners. Not going to happen.

I agree it's not good. But this won't get resolved by tomorrow or next week or even next month. We have to see what happens over the next 12 months and if it's backwards again, I would be genuinely shocked and appalled at the club. We HAVE to be better next year.

Why are we not smaller than Barnsley, in the past we have been very much alike the odd couple of seasons in the Premier, a few seasons in the Chapionship or League Two as it was, but Barnsley have been better than us after our fall from the Premiership even though as we did they went through an administration, similar crowd capacity as ours, and they can match us for crowds even though we get football on the cheap.

    Based on what?
    Size of stadium?
    Population of the town?
    Past glories?
