Anthony O’Connor wants to stay next season

He's had a decent season and his versatility has definitely been useful. Yes he's applied himself ok but I don't like him in midfield and think him playing there now only shows that we lack options in that area.

I think a lot will depend on Staunton and if he's back in the mix. POC and Canavan are a good partnership so they have to start for me. Im not sure we can justify a high earner like AOC as cover.

Whilst I agree with you about Aoc in midfield when he plays Watt is slightly further forward which I like he is more effective there and he scored against FG and was unlucky not to last night

 

If talk of AoC being on ~3k per week is true - and it sounds likely given when he was signed - thats a top, top end salary for a league 2 player. And he's not a top end league 2 player. He's a fairly average, versatile defensive player, but one who could be replaced with someone as good for half that wage.

 

And had either of them talked to each other he or clarke would have managed to get a shot off

 

He's the highest paid player at the club. Obviously he wants to stay

 

He is well aware that if he is offered another contract the terms will be nowhere near as favourable as his current one, and has said that playing regularly is the driving factor for him, not money.

 

Its fair to say he already knows the likely offer and what he could earn elsewhere. That's the job and purpose of his agent.

 

Let's hope Kevin De Bruyne has started the trend for negotiating a deal without an agent
