Match Thread Away V Exeter City Saturday 6th February 1.00pm (with Poll)

Long trip to Exeter and earlier start. Based on the last game only, I'd replace AOC with Canavan and Clarke with Vernam. Wood just about gets away with it because I wouldn't want too many changes in defence. His form has been a little sketchy probably due to a lack of competition, but with new recruits in the building, I'm hoping it pushes everyone an extra 10%.

 

Yes, definitely Foulds on the bench. Not sure we need two target men on the bench though so the Don could be missing.

 

Agree on this I'd bring in Canavan for AOC who was poor against Barrow and could have cost us points. We have quality alternatives in most positions now, no one should be getting complacent thinking their place is a given, they need to earn it.

 

Why would you change a winning team unless injury or fatigue is a issue.

 

Also with the weather the way it is this week there will be little time on grass to integrate new players

 

Exeter lovely place but a licckle bit nawty ref footy on occasions......

Vernham should go straight in for Billy Clarke who’s a weak-link in the current setup.

 

It would be incredibly naive to think that the same team can continue week after week and maintain the same performance levels. I’m not for wholesale changes, but the reason you have a squad is to keep the same intensity for 95 mins. There were signs of fatigue last week and potential injury to Clarke. We don’t need to lose anybody for 4-6 weeks when we’ve enough bodies in the building to rotate.

 

To give it the best chance of staying a winning team. We won our last game but it could have easily being a draw. I understand the point, in terms of pick form players

 

It could have been a draw because Barrow played well. Aoc struggled a bit first half against a very good centre forward on the day other than that he has been solid. Of course we signed players to improve the team but it has to be done fairly to maintain the team spirit we have built up

 

Fair do's. Hopefully the managers will know which players will sulk etc. With games coming quick and fast, I expect a bit of rotation and making full use of our bench before fatigue even starts to happen. However with rotation I would like to keep a solid structure i.e. the middle. Rotate the others

I'd rather Canavan play than AOC but if it ain't broke don't fix it 'n all that. I genuinely believe we can beat anybody in this league at the moment so no need to fear them. That said, this run can't go on forever and we are going to lose eventually. I'd take a draw here as long as we back it up with 3 points against Scunny.

 

Lets not get carried away, although there form is not so good it will be though game. I am going for 1-0 to Bradford City with Rowe getting the goal. It will be interesting to see if T&S tinker with the team and if he starts with any of the recent additions.

 

I'm assuming the squad will travel down on Friday afternoon and with the game over for 3pm,they won't be arriving home too late on Saturday night either. That should help negate a lot of the long trip issues and mean we will be fresh and raring to go again at Scunny on the Tuesday.

 

How many extra IFollow passes will be sold on Saturday after recent signings and out goings. I was buying one anyway but anyone now changed their mind to buy a pass?

 

I'd play Canavan for AOC. Good performer, vocal, will help organize Connor, Finn and Paudie during their slightly less focused moments, which good though they all have been of late, suffer from occasionally.

Might want to change the poll question to 'Are you going to buy a match pass ...'. Some of us are overseas subscribers who always watch / suffer every match and whose answer is not indicative of an upsurge of interest and optimism.
