The situation with Novak looks to have thrown a spanner in the planning.
Instead of looking for someone to add to our striking force, we've now had to bring in cover hence why Cook may only be here until the end of the season.
For all Novak's contribution in terms of goals is offset by the fact that he's missed most of the season through injury.
I expect we'll be looking to replace him in the summer. Cook could be that replacement but it still leaves us an experienced striker short

 

Here's hoping DMH will be out of the building by Monday night.
If Cook signs there's still room for one more in before the deadline.

Just as the two managers said when asked about Mcaleny that they had other people in mind from the start of the window. So perhaps not signed as a replacement

 

I still think we need a defensive minded central midfielder. Should Watt or Sutton get injured who would we put in that position? It has to be someone with the discipline to hold the position and not bomb forward with disregard.

 

I'm quite surprised we registered an interest before the window opened. I just assumed this signing was out if the blue in light of Novak's injury. That said, Novak could have been injured at the end of December when we all assumed recently

Wonder if the registered interest was with his agent with a view to the end of the season on a free?
Happy with this signing too, hopefully he does well and becomes perm in the summer

 

The winger issue is about options. We suit
the system we are playing but now we have
Cook, we could use the winger option to put
balls in the box. Either Cook or Novak in
particular would benefit.

 

Cooke would do a good job there, solid and can put a tackle in... plenty who can take his place further forward. Then there's loads who could fill in for a few games if two of them are out

 

Novak is going under the knife, probably back in time for Easter

 

We only play 1 up top. I'd imagine we would struggle to budget for those 3 and still keep a balanced squad.
