Which is poor given we clearly have money in the budget given our signings so far. Get Wood tied down even for a further 12 months and we can demand a fee if he wants to go i nthe summer then?

He can play centre back also.

We don't need better than Wood but sometimes Wood might need a rest and it was clear that we didn't have anyone to step up to take over.

This signing is just a lets have a look at you signing.

 

My feeling is that we have offered him a contract. .

However, he isn't signing as yet but as I say he hasn't been great this season and him leaving isn't a massive loss.

 

Would he take just a 12 month contract though? And, barring an unlikely late tilt at the play-offs (though it's not impossible), how much is he going to want to stay and what percentage of the league 2 salary cap would we want to be shelling out on a left back?

With the exception of 1 or 2 most of this team have, up until very recently, shown very little to suggest keeping them past this window never mind the summer.
It wasn't very long ago a lot of folk on here were talking about having a good clear out in the summer and rebuilding. A couple of good results seem to have elevated some of the team in to players we must keep hold of.
Woods has been okay at times, occasionally good but I'd be more disappointed to lose someone like Staunton (who I think could become a real talent in a couple of years) than say goodbye to an above average player in what's been a pretty poor team.

 

Maybe not but he will find a club in the summer quite clearly if he leaves us.
I’m not suggesting give him a lot of money, we know we hold the cards with it as everyone under a salary cap in the leagues he would realistically go. But it’s a bit of a specialist position full back. Look how difficult we have found signing a good right back since Caddis went. Still flapping about now really.
Seems a good fit to keep wood to me

 

A much better crosser than Meredith and a sweeter left foot for taking corners and free kicks. Defending wise not that much in it - at time though Meredith was left with no cover in front of him which did not help him defensively.

Notice that there isn't a squad number on his shirt hung up in the dressing room. Hasn't there been an announcement of squad number on all the other signings so far this window? Does that mean he is going to be taking the number of a player yet to depart?

Thats is your opinion - but Meredith was playing in an improving team with better players - Wood the opposite. I am not saying Wood is better but in a poor team has provided more offensively than Meredith did.

 

Think Meredith was very underrated in the time he spent here most of times he was doing 2 jobs down the left hand side attacking and defending, I can’t remember reid helping and tracking back much. Am sure Meredith would still be playing his trade in the championship if it wasn’t for his own errors

 

I’d be surprised if it wasn’t opinion shared by many City fans tbh, it’s almost as if Merediths ability and contributions to the club went down the minute he signed for Millwall, maybe the same will happen with Wood.

 

Foulds is a possible one for the future as he's only
signed till end of season. If he doesn't shape up he
will be on his way at end of season. Maybe T & S
feel they can spot talent and develop them as that's
what they were doing in under 23's. We could find
some young talent and create a good team ethic.

 

Totally agree mate, don’t get the hype around him at all. Steady league 2 left back, give me Meredith any day of the week.

I believe your right @Fordy117 he's not signed the contract offered, romour is he wants to go back down south, a great season last season but although he's not been our worst player its not been anything like last season.

 

It’s a great move getting these Bradford lads in they will give it their all
