The way football is going unfortunately. Nothing wrong with using the help that loan players give you, with salary cap restrictions the gap between the top two and bottom divisions will become so big as to be almost untenable. Advantages for both parties. A bit too much arse kissing in that interview though for my liking.

It makes complete sense to me. The sooner we get out of this league and start to climb, the sooner we’ll be able to afford our own players and be less reliant on those around us. Some clubs have built great relationships with premier sides and we’ve often been left wondering why we haven’t done the same. Looks like Ryan is setting solid foundations to rebuild the club from the ground up...

Makes sense for both sides, it's a very useful move. To be honest, as long as the loan players are good and want to be here, i couldn't care less who their parent club is.

Especially with salary caps, when you have a free hit cap wise on U21 players and down the road there is an academy with a good track record of the last few years of churning out good players, why not take a few of the ones that need some proper match experience rather than U23 games? Absolute no brainer to take advantage of it when we are a 4th Division side.

It makes perfect sense, and beyond that, it shows some real pragmatism and strategic thinking by the club. We're not backed financially, we seem unable to attract and plan on the basis of having financial backing, so we need to tap into bigger, wealthier clubs and leverage their resources wherever possible. Acting as a 'Leeds B' is a cracking idea that serves both clubs with value.

I'm certainly no lover of Leeds, but I can't see the problem, myself. They are PL, we are L2. If we ever get back near to parity it would become inappropriate, but that looks a long way off. Meanwhile, having a handful of our first team squad on loan from Beeston seems a fruitful arrangement for both clubs.

I hope we're not limiting this to Leeds either - whilst it makes sense to have particularly strong links with them, there are even bigger clubs in the North West of England that we should be getting into bed with, especially the Manchester clubs - though there are numerous L 1/2 clubs in the Greater Manchester area.

It’s a pragmatic approach, Leeds and other PL clubs will hoover up most of the talent and a lot of them won’t be good enough for where the clubs want to be at the pointy end of the PL or will need experience to develop. Forging good links with them makes sense. The interview with Sparks he comes across as unnecessarily and nauseatingly desperate to be their friend but that’s his choice.

I also see that Huddersfield and Barnsley are mentioned....maybe players coming in from either of those clubs too?

Absolutely no problem with the present set up.
It's common sense in these tough times.

I think folk need to move on from Leeds United. They are prospering in the PL and we are languising in L2.

Yes, good to have a chuckle with my Leeds fans mates when they get spanked but this obsessive hatred towards them is embarassing at times. I cringe when I see some of the stuff on social media. If we beat Crawley this weekend I can see the knuckle draggers bragging how we must be better than Leeds....

If we were actually league rivals I get it - but we arent. They dont give us a second thought in all honesty. We are their neighbours and nothing more. We just look desperate and bitter.

Are Barnsley good enough to loan us decent youngsters? Aren't the last two we signed from them DMH and Patrick?

The lads coming from Leeds have been good quality; that's the important thing.

No reason we can’t both march on together. Good for both parties.

Not as many League 1/2 clubs in Greater Manchester as you think. Bolton, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford. Wigan which is also in Greater Manchester, is actually further away from Manchester City than Valley Parade.

However we have had a number of players from those clubs, who for one reason or another have not proved to be great signings.

Feels a bit Collins and Rahic when they were desperate to get into bed with Huddersfield when they were a prem side.

it works if you get good players, O’Brien from Huddersfield for example but it’s when you get palmed off with 3 or 4 who are not ready for first team football but they have been sent here to get men’s football. Then we are onto a loss

I’d put my neck on line and say we won’t be close to where Leeds are in the next decade. They will be signing full internationals from all over the world for 10s of millions.
Players like Paudie or Hosannah are never going to be at their level so if we can take some of those players off their hands then that’s fine with me.
We are top end League 1 club at most in terms of recent history and club infrastructure. There has to be some realism about our situation and how we want to go forward as a club. Leeds being a parent club is good news.

Just as we discussed yesterday, no big suprise it's a great move if Leeds can help us whilst we help them, Alan Nevison could also be a help with our relationship with Leeds as he worked for them prior to coming back to Valley Parade.
Hannah Cox another employee Rahic drove out of the club, our loss is Leeds gain very good at her job I was told, something Rahic wouldnt have liked.

It’s a sensible business move, salary cap is a game changer compared to all other seasons. POC may have come from Leeds, but he is our player. We have Hosannah and Stevens on loan. “Leeds B” - hmmm, @Parader@Parader , we may need to impeach you for incitement of insurrection against Sparks :OO:

As long as it doesn't become a conflict of interest to bringing our own youngsters through then I can't see a problem. Every team needs a balance of youth and experience, if you have 2,3,4 players from an elite team and that teams wants to see their players getting constant game time it will more than likely be to the detriment of your own youth team players. It's a fine balance between nurturing your own talent with a view to promotion and player resale value, Peterborough and Crewe a good example, to becoming a feeder club looking for game time for their own players.
