    A few lads from Gateshead I have a pint with from time to time know Alan Dowson very well. I can barely remember him playing other than thinking he was a little lightweight, yet apparently he loved his time at City.

    Another of his pals was the photographer at my wedding. I’d not met him prior to the day as the wife sorted it out, but before the event we got talking football and when I mentioned I supported Bradford he couldn’t wait to tell me that his best pal played for us, Alan Dowson. From that moment on every time he took a picture he kept going back to taking football, which of course my wife was delighted about . Said the same thing, he still looks out for our results.

    The Valley Parade leaking tap has just started to drip water again.....

    Seems to be somebody with a decent pedigree and has worked at 2 local-ish clubs in recent years who have signed and the sold players for decent amounts of money. Has been operating in leagues 1-2.

    Will know Stuart quite well I would have thought. Not somebody that’s been at the club before.

    Whatever 'help' is on the way, I hope its a move to permanently strengthen our approach to recruitment and not just a stop gap reaction to a crisis.

    I'm of the view that many fans are coming to terms with the idea that simply hoping for a better future at VP won't be good enough. It needs something more tangible - a clear plan for the future, better management both on and off the pitch, an overhaul of the club's infrastructure, better facilities for the fans - and to stop talking about what might happen and to get focused on delivering the improvements.

    I understand that's unlikely to happen until fans are back in the stadium but there should be an opportunity to change things for the better. We have a new ambitious but inexperienced CEO who can change the direction of the club if he gets the backing of the owner. And the new salary cap should aid that. A reduction in our playing cost base could be used productively to advance the club rather than being slipped into the owner's back pocket. Season tickets will be going on sale in the near future and there will be a major challenge to get more fans to part with their own hard earned cash. What better opportunity to both improve results on the pitch and share a vision of the club' future with its fans?

    Completely agree. Though some of us have been saying this for a few years, only to de dismissed by those seeking to take a superior intellectual position. Including our outgoing CEO - which is probably why we're 91st in the football league pyramid.

    Any guesses on who ? Two local clubs could be any of the other three in West Yorkshire, but probably rules out Halifax with the L1/L2 link. Possibly Oldham, Bury or Rochdale could be called relatively local. Depends if the L2 bit is with a local club ?

    Rules out Jewell and Abott. When's the announcement ?

    The 2 clubs - 1 is based in Sheffield (but were same level as us not that long ago) and the other would consider Grimsby a local derby.

    Don’t know when the announcement will be.

    I also don’t know what happened with Jewell. Maybe that will come out eventually.
