Match Thread Bolton Wanderers (a)

I've discovered that ifollow can be quite comforting. I sit in front of the fire with a glass or two, watch our destruction, shrug and then put it all to the back of my mind. The alternative is a 2 hour trip each way in the rain, a 3-0 thrashing - in the rain, a 2 hour trip back - in the rain, with around 6 hours of moaning from me and my mates and with an aftershock that lasts for days. Long live ifollow. It seems like I've become detached from it all.

 

Dont know how wet it is up north today but very soggy down here, is the game in any doubt?

I've said similar on the last match thread although I think I'd go for Sutton in place of Clarke. We need someone to out a tackle in the middle of the pitch.

I'd go the O'Connors and Staunton (if fit) at the back and bang the two OCs heads together and say "sort it out"

I'd probably go with Novak and Donaldson up front. Even though they're similar, they're the most experienced and again I'd be saying "just put a bloody shift in and get on the end of the crosses from Wood and Hosannah".

That gives Clarke and Samuels to come on if needed and the formation wouldn't need to change either.

 

Given the shape of the squad, I’d say 3 CBs and wing backs is the best suited system for us. I don’t particularly like it as it never seems to work for us but we have 1 winger and an abundance of CBs so we’re pretty limited on options. Recruitment has been a disaster in my opinion, we’ve backed ourselves into a corner by not strengthening in the right places.

I’m normally quite positive but I’ve got a bad feeling about tonight - Bolton are seemingly starting to click after putting in a decent performance away at Cambridge and they should have won by all accounts. And aside the first 10 mins at Barrow they apparently played very well.

As for us, we’re consistently inconsistent, and on Saturday we never looked like scoring even if we played til midnight. There was no creativity on the pitch and no players to ask questions of the defence and keep them on their toes. It was all too one dimensional from us.

So all that considered, I think I’d be absolutely delighted if we came back with a point.

Just been past Bolton’s ground - very very wet and local flooding so if it keeps raining I would expect it to be off - good job there are no spectators!!

 

First game of the season I’m missing tonight and can’t say I’m to bothered, grateful for other plans for once when footballs on not something I say often. Regarding the game, they seem a team who keep the ball for the sake of it and create little in terms of goal scoring opportunities. There fans are as as pissed as ours. I can see a tight game, either a draw or tight win for either side. A big loss to these and we should really start to worry.
