You said we work to a shoe-string budget and then said it was 'mid-table'.............you see why I am calling you out on your crap? You don't even remember your previous comments. They contradict each other.

I would suggest our budget is 'competitive'. We spent nearly half a million on transfer fees last summer. I cannot imagine there were many more in L1 that did.

No suprise there then, wouldn't you think two weeks ago when Edin was boasting about the calibre of applicants who have put their names forward we would have prioritised one of these quality applicants instead of someone no body has heard of.

 

That's what I first thought when edin said something unusual for are league

The list goes on..

 

If you look at the list of league1 clubs that have just appointed new managers or a head coach there's not a lot of experience among them.

Fleetwood - Barton -rookie
Barnsley - Stendel- little experience
Shrewsbury- Askey - none league
Scunthorpe - Daws - little experience

So why is it some of our fans are against appointing a rookie or someone like Hopkin ? Are they thinking we are to big a club to do this and want an experienced manager. Let's look at Warburton , he inherited a decent squad at Brentford and got them promoted and after a season in the championship he wasn't offered a new deal at the end of the season. He went to Rangers who backed him with cash and had a pick of Newcastle reserves. He got them promoted upto the Scottish premiership and won the Scottish cup. Then in their first season back in the premier league Rangers were well behind Celtic on points and had no chance of catching them so he and his backroom staff resigned. He was then sacked at Notts Forest after a short time in charge. So that's 1 contract not offered , he resigned once and got sacked once and he was well backed twice and inherited a league winning squad. When you look at it he's not that impressive plus we won't be backing him like he's used to so he's no good for us .

 

So if the coach of Wyke Wanderers applied you'd interview him ?, you get your list together and then go through who in your opinion are the strongest applicants because of their past records.
Thats exactly why they made Grayson the offer in February and he only took a short term contract, then at the end of the season sat down to see what the owners wanted of him and how much the budget would be.
Hence the reason he said thanks but no thanks, unfortunatly others may have done the same when given what is required along with the budget, now were looking at ones we would normally not give the time of day, but hay we might get lucky and unearth another Wagner.

 

You're being idiotic there and you know you are..

You get the list together based on your criteria of what you want the head coach/manager to achieve. Past experience may come into it, but should not be the starting point, unless that past experience is linked to the criteria.. In our league past experience usually is a list of failures otherwise they would be managing further up the league
