It could well be construed as a cynical move, to manipulate the current pandemic, in an attempt to either derail the season, which is in line with their Chairman’s view, or at the very least delay matches until they have all players available for selection.

I think it's a fair question to ask tbh.

I also think from the bits and bobs I've seen about the approach Grimsby have taken that we'll be given the 3 points retrospectively.

It's one thing if a club goes to the FA and tried to work it through but it gets called off but another thing if the club decide unilaterally. They had all week to engage with the FA if they wanted to and what is clear to me is they haven't engaged with the FA at all prior to saying its off.

Is there a way supporters can write to the FA on this matter?

What is Holloway's role as a director at Grimsby? Not illegal but seems a bit odd that the manager is also the director. Probably means that there is less independence between the football side of things and the business side of things.

I think that’s the aim the Grimsby owners want the season suspended and they are trying to push it along

I might have some sympathy for Grimsby if their chairman wasn't calling for the league to be suspended. Maybe it is wrong to jump to conclusions, but imo, the evidence as it stands suggests there could be ulterior motives at play.

They have clauses written into their players contracts which means they won’t get paid if the season is suspended.

Exeter City tried it once. Massive fine and loss of points was the result.

I doubt anything will happen to Grimsby tbh. Someone pointed out that the 'investigation' that was mentioned is standard wording and was also said about the Leyton Orient games.
Games are postponed all the time without EFL involvement due to weather etc (albeit referees are normally the ones to decide this). Grimsby could probably quite easily argue that they are following govt advice. If I'm honest, I think it would be pretty poor all round to give us a walkover / fine them.
Grimsby have to be very careful though, if the season goes ahead and they can't catch up on their matches I could see the EFL just drawing a line under their season and they could get relegated.

This is a very dangerous situation for the league though, could easily see the league being cancelled within a month, unless:
    1) the EFL show strong leadership and have protocols each club has to follow, otherwise it is a free for all.
    2) the EFL can somehow find the money for more regular testing (PFA?, FIFA?, FA?, EPL?)
    3) more clarity from govt on when fans can return.

90% of the clubs look to have done a pretty decent job in very difficult circumstances to try and get games on and get fans back in the stadiums, but without any of the above its a losing battle.

And that is the right approach. Not from an angle of wanting Grimsby to be punished as such, but the integrity of the league needs to be maintained!

The fact is that they have lost their first two league matches and not scored a goal in either game, they have a minus 5 goal difference and are second bottom, with only Southend below them!

Despite their Coronavirus lockdown they seem to have been able to sign a player yesterday! https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/james-morton-grimsby-bristol-city-4563535

Smells a little fishy to me! ;)

And it may well be that the EFL find that Grimsby have no case to answer.

However, both the Radio Leeds report, plus at least one poster on here (who could well be deemed to be in the know) has hinted at the area the EFL will be looking at.

As part of the resumption of elite sport in this country detailed rules have been drawn up by the Premier League, EFL etc. in cojunction with the relative authorities, to allow clubs to resume competitive matches.

These rules place strict requirements on clubs, players and staff and, in turn, free those clubs, players and staff from some of the restrictions placed on the rest of us.

If followed, those rules should allow clubs to avoid cancelling/postponing matches in anything other than the most extreme circumstances.

As such the EFL will be investigating both Leyton Orient and Grimsby to ascertain how their matches came to be called off, albeit in somewhat different circumstances.

Jesus this is getting beyond a joke now. He signed last Thursday - same day as the positive result. Only announced yesterday. For goodness sake let it go now and remember "there for the grace of god go I" .
The older ones will explain that!

Grimsby announced it on 30th September, how the hell were we to know, when the deal was done?
Club News Mariners Confirm Morton Signing 30 September 2020 https://www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/news/2020/september/mariners-confirm-morton-signing/

It is in your local paper on that date. The fact that it wasn’t announced earlier says something about the competence of your club.

One of your own supporters said, “It's not about him (Morton) Charlie the fans will love him if he tries, its the club appear to have announced it after it was reported he'd signed last Friday & would have played Saturday, had we played! The club also ballsed up last couple of signings as our one media guy was on hols‘ (Matty Beer).

Look I have nothing against Grimsby supporters and before this incident nothing against the club.

If you read this thread, we question the way this has been handled by your club. It seems to generate a number of valid questions about the conduct of Grimsby Town’s owner!

So don’t patronise me with your final comment

Couldnt give a frig if you felt patronised or not to be honest. Many of the 170 comments on this topic have been plenty patronising towards our club regardless of the situation.
I too have nothing against Bradford, quite the contrary, which is why I am on here. I think your fans are pretty special to have stuck with such a badly run boardroom over the last few seasons.
Anyway enough is enough. I wish you well for the rest of the season except when we eventually play you.

Think you'll find Orient already face two charges. As I remember it's about failure to fulfill fixtures.
