Only a compensation figure rather than a transfer fee but compensation figures can end up in the high six figures at least. Although he's only been at Man Utd since he was 14 so it won't as high as other but will either out of our reach or if it is within our reach there'll be a number of championship clubs at least after him so we won't stand a chance.

Just dragged this back up for a thought I don't believe has been considered. What's his crossing like and would any dead balls he takes maybe give him a better assist record than TM? I know a few claimed to have seen him at 23's level with Man U but don't recall any comments on his ability in that area.

 

Riley doesn't take set pieces or I certainly have never seen him do so in the couple of games shown on mutv that I saw.

On the weekend I met a lad who plays for a league one side. We were at my mate's house for pre-drinks and I got chatting to him about league one football because I was the only person in the room that wasn't a premier league fan.

He played in youth teams with Joe Riley and told me that Riley is a quality player and that he was a winger but United converted him to a fullback. He said we should expect him to be a very attack-minded player and that he was surprised he'd gone to us. - Good news!

On Dominic Poleon he said, "If Poleon wasn't fast he wouldn't be a footballer" ...enough said.

So given Bowyers comments in the recent T&A article, do we assume that as one of the other players frozen out by Hopkin, Riley hasn’t shown the desire to work his way back into the match day squad?

deffo not good enough. We have Mellor & Caddis for that role anyways.

 

You have to dispose of the player in that position and the way Cadiss is playing its no contest, shame hes not a left back that would have been much easier .

 

Wiki says he is a left back - maybe one for @SimonW ?

 

Did he not come as a alternative RM / wide player option as well? Given we’ve been missing that outlet all season, surely this is linked to not been good enough or not being interested?
