It doesn’t take a footballing expert to identify which players are considered to be decent or not; you’ve only got to look at where they have been plying their trade for the last couple of season’s and why they’re no longer where they are.

    For example:

Eoin Doyle - Great coupe, but heavily reliant on him replicating his Swindon form. Baring in mind, only Wellens has been able to turn him into a lower league, goal scoring prowess in recent years - that long contract and large wages could be financial suicide.

Antonio Sarcevic - signing of the summer. Great player.

George Taft - Solid League Two CB, nothing more. Injury prone, too.

Brandon Comley - holding midfielder, who has consistently finished mid/lower-mid table (L2)

Liam Gordon - Finished last season on-loan at Conference South side, Dartford.

Ricardo Santos - apart from having a fancy name, if he wasn’t sitting on the bench for Barnet in the league below, he was injured.

Reiss Greenidge - Played a bit of football in Norway‘s third division. Prior to this, he was at Hemmel Hempstead - in the Conference South.

Gethin Jones - Welsh RB, who I feel could have done a job at City - steady signing.

Nathan Delfouneso - thought to be partnering Doyle upfront. He isn’t mobile enough to create the chances or space for Doyle to flourish - unlike Jerry Yates when at Swindon. Has never hit double figures in his career.

Matt Gilks - 16 appearances in 3 years.

Jak Hickman - got binned off by Coventry for being a tit on social media whilst away on holiday. Spent last season at Bromsgrove Sporting - Southern League - 4 levels below League Two.

Alex Baptiste - experience aplenty. 11 appearances in 3 years, though.

Jamie Mascoll - young LB from Wycombe. Played 9 times last season. Season prior he played for Dulwitch Hamlet - 2 leagues below L2.

They do, however, have some decent youngsters of their own. Dennis Politic being one, but he’s injured. They have just signed a young striker from Enfield - scored plenty last season - in the Isthmian League Prem

Give me Ali Crawford and Antonio Sarcevic, other than that, they’ve signed a load of garbage. But hey, they could have some real bargains - “light years ahead of us”.

If we had signed that lot, this forum would be in overdrive.

I don’t think you could get an app on your TV but you can use an HDMI cable from a laptop onto the TV providing both have a HDMI slot

Difference being really with us is that we had a core of a squad and only really needed 6 or so quality signings to give us a good base and stay under the cap and we couldn’t even manage that.

I like their plan and you clearly don’t. They know where they want to go. I think they will finish higher than us. That’s the beauty of football. All opinions

I understand what you’re saying, but I strongly believe McCall knows what he’s doing. It’s plainly obvious he’s waiting on players to be allowed to go out on-loan - a market whereby he’s done relatively well in before.

I’ll judge this season’s recruitment once the window closes - it’s clear that our business in this window is far from finished.

The worry with that is the season is well underway by then and we may have to rely on a late push to the play offs if we are too far behind? I think we may know more soon but it would be nice to be proactive for once.

Has he had much success with loan window before? Cullen aside who we convinced to come back?

Cheers, was planning on running through laptop via HDMI. Just thought it would potentially easier if I could add the app on smart tv. I’ll see what happens when I try set up for the game on Sat.

Doyle and Delo are joint top scorers pre season but even fans saying nothing after them. Signed 15 players and loaned some kids out. Think Peter Atherton is the brains behind Evatt, Barrow made big effort to keep him.
I've said before not impressed by owner but now Peter Kenyon has appeared, a shark in my personal opinion Think they might not be as good as they think and fans moaning about Evatt after pre season. My bet? Admin by Jan.

Well that’s a bit extreme. Just because we may bring a loan or two in during the next two week or so, doesn’t leave us so far behind that our only chance is a late surge into the play-offs. There’s so much football to be played - but you don’t need me to tell you that.

I’ve always found that McCall has faired well in the loan market. Yes, you’re going to get flops but I think of the loans who have come in, these have faired OK. I also look at the quality of player coming in, so for example, McNulty and Vuckić probably didn’t set the world alight because they were playing behind Wyke, Hiwula and Clarke, but they were coupes for us at the time.

    Jordy Hiwula
    Josh Cullen
    Harris Vuckć
    Marc McNulty
    Alex Gilliead (second spell)
    Adam Thompson
    Callum Guy

All brought in on-loan by McCall.

Bolton are like us last season, I dont think they've hit the bottom yet. I think they'll struggle as Evatt is a complete unknown in terms of football league management experience. Couple that with a very inexperienced squad, they aint as good as some think.

Aye, both Doyle and Delo have notched three goals - with a couple of them being pens - hardly prolific, nor impressive given the opposition.

I have predicted them to struggle. Unless they find a way in which they can feed Doyle, relegation is not completely out of the question.

We were nowhere near bankrupt? You might just want to read that again and slap yourself silly.

If you're overseas and expecting to watch this Saturday's Bolton game on iFollow, please be aware that, as far as I know, there will only be radio commentary. Carabao Cup games are not included in the (now 30 quid a year more expensive) subscription.

If we are waiting for clubs to finalise squads before loans we won’t get them in until October at the earlier and then it’s about fitting them into the squad and them gelling with the rest. With 2 games a week most weeks once the season gets going that won’t be easy. As I say we will be playing catch up but if you’re happy with that so be it. I’d prefer to have my squad ready with the odd room if someone exceptional came up.

Hmm that list is stretching it somewhat really. I thought our link up under parky with West Ham was where we got our best loans and then Evans from wolves.
You can have Cullen and I liked Hiwula. But the rest? Questionable.
