    If the salary cap comes in this is what the fines will look like.
    Grimsby Live understands clubs going above the proposed £1.5-million threshold will enter a 'sliding scale' fine system. The offending club would pay 50p in every pound it pays over the cap for the first £100,000 it goes over, then the fine becomes £1 per £1 over the cap, and then £3 for every £1 over. The fine money generated would then be distributed among the other clubs in the division.

    The issue will be voted on by clubs and a decision is expected before the end of the month. However, it is far from certain whether it will get the go-ahead as a majority verdict is required.

    Manager of League Two side Bradford City, Stuart McCall, has already declared himself against the cap, as has Scunthorpe United chairman Peter Swann.

    my understanding is if a salary cap come in then players already contracted to clubs can not be counted as part of it . The cap will only affect new signings .

    If the cap comes in there is absolutely no reason why we can't keep him. His contract will not be counted in the cap and the lower wage cap in total would allow us to do business without needing to offload him.

    As long as he "ends up here" by sitting in the stands or commentary box cheering us on then I'm OK with that. He's no use any more playing in the team.

    I really don't understand why Bradford City are against a salary cap.

    Surely it then makes us the most desirable club?

    How long do the league wait to find out who has blown the salary cap? Do they wait until the end of the season or end of January window? If it’s end of the seaons or the season after what is the point in a fine? Salford might be 2 million above everyone else but by that point are champions and into league One.

    it will not help the league and will kill it. Players in the national league will be paid more and there’s nothing to stop more hoarding of players higher up and still they will be paid more than our league. It’s a shambles but expected from the EFL
