MCCall likes possession football so might see Clarke as the player or at least option to link midfield and attack and keep the ball, on paper it seems like a very average signing if true but some managers just know how to get the best out of players. So striker, no, support striker, maybe. Options are limited in L2.

Balotelli and their ilk get clubs like Marseille and Brescia because those clubs can't attract former Inter, Man City and AC Milan forwards.

Is this a copy paste statement of yours from earlier on in the season? It kind of comes obsolete, because he DID come back from injury, and was terrible! He missed a hatful of chances and looked very much a second fiddle player. I don’t expect him to feature much next season.

 

Bolton seem to mean business. New management team with 200k outlay to get them. Doyle on a 3 year deal on good money.

Whereas we seem scared of a non-existent wage cap and are looking to sign a player who wasn’t really that good in the previous two spells for us. It’s going to be a long old season

It's early days to be resigning the upcoming season to the trash heap as we don't know what beholds the club in terms of playing personnel. That said, my faith in the hierarchy of this club fills me with little confidence, so my expectations are tepid, to say the least.

Until we find ambition right from the top, then I feel we will continue to be a middling lower league club, with some of its support base continuing with the grandeur that we have big attendances, so this must equate to success and be signing higher league players!!

The current squad (well if you can call it a squad) is unbalanced, ageing (Donaldson), inadequate (see Guthrie) and whilst I read of these signings of Bolton et Al, I am resigned to not see signings like Spearing, Doyle etc because they are well beyond our pay grade and aspirations.

January showed our hierarchy for what it is. Doyle out, Vaughan out with Guthrie in. And to rub salt into the wounds, sacked Bowyer too late before appeasing some of the fanbase with the McCall reappointment. Weak, lazy and synonymous management of Rupp.

 

Agreed with this. CD was instrumental in our early season ' form' but nevertheless, following his injury at Morecambe, he returned offering little. A year on from his early season form and his showings from the latter part of the season plus his age, their is little to wet the appetite that CD is the key to our success moving forward.

Without doubt until his injury at Morecambe Donaldson was very much a part of a team that was going well sitting 4th 2 points behind the league leaders and on course for a play off place at least.
Unfortunatly when he did return the team were struggling and as you say Donaldson never looked the same player.

I think Devante Coles attitude is based on the expectation that
he is Andy Coles son and he should get due respect for that before
he's done anything to warrant it.Maybe he's had life easy and thinks
it's his prerogative.Life ain't like that!

 

Vaughan needs to prove the problem was not his ability
or attitude,it was down to Bowyer. By playing like he can
he sets the record straight and we can enjoy the improvement
because with that we have a chance of getting out of this
league.
