It was ironic, that....Connolly so often cannot get his cross off the floor, and then when he puts in a beauty like that, instead of having one of the big lads on the end of it, he had a small, and stretching, Reeves unable to quite get on the end of it!

A good summary to which you might add it took a massive defensive mistake to allow us to get back into the match. It was a good finish but the assist came from one of their players.

Guthrie - Rarely are signing at 2 min to deadline on deadline day good, they are more desperate than anything else.

From what I have seen so far, this is definitely desperate.

 

You just hope our GD doesn't come back to bite us in the backside later in the year. The four currently above us have +16, +16, +12, +20 and we are only on +7 given the number of draws we've had. Hopefully we can make up for lost time under Stuart.

 

And he probably held out for a contract disproportionate to his worth. That’s why you don’t leave it to deadline day.

There clearly is no movement bonus in that contract as his movement round the pitch was none existant. A mannequin covers more ground.

 

I suppose we ought to give him longer before we condemn him outright but he does not look a player so far. In his interview he revealed that Bowyer had tried to sign him before which suggests it wasn’t just some random act of desperation on deadline day. He’s certainly a big lad but he didn’t put himself about as you might have expected especially against a former club. We paid a fee and he’s here next season!

 

I just want to give him a bit more time to settle in. He is not looking the part atm. He did sign up under another manager, let’s give a bit of leeway here.
