A DoF isn't a necessity for a club to have consistency of approach rather than change it when the manager changes. I've used Swansea elsewhere on here as an example of how it was done successfully over time from them being almost relegated into non-league obscurity to getting promoted to the PL. It took a chairman in the form of Huw Jenkins to have a clear vision of what was needed both on and off the pitch and to recruit a series of managers and coaches to deliver it. He decided what type of footbal was to be played; what type of squad was needed and what the balance in the squad was to be. He didn't allow his managers to recruit a plethora of defenders or a group of similar types of midfielders if they didn't fit with his vision of the club. And he didn't need a DoF or even former player/manager to do that. He talked to experienced people in the game for him to frame his own view of what the club should be. There is no reason (other than the two obvious ones both beginning with R!) why we shouldn't be capable of doing that equally as well as Swansea if there was even the vestiges of a plan to do it that way.

Agree, it was the manner of the performances against the lower placed teams that did for Bowyer, how we managed to make them all look like worldbeaters!! Oldham had 29 shots against us for a team who were lacking in confidence and won at home 4 times all season!! Coupled with his fixation on the opposition and how good they were!! If he's telling the media what a good side the opposition are then you know full well he's telling that to the players!! No wonder they were afraid to express themselves. Limited attacking threat with 2 out of the 3 best strikers in the league...

He only ever posts on here to bash Stuart, doesn't contribute anything at any other times whatsoever...wonder if it was his car that Stuart was climbing on in 1999?

    Agree Dennis.

Don't think the DoF is necessary - isn't that what Rahic called him self?

The FA have introduced the England DNA, the aim of which is to highlight how England teams should play and Southgate was key in this. The idea being that somebody from U18s / U21s should be able to come into the team and understand how the England first team will play and their role in that. The FA have encouraged grassroots clubs to follow suit and produce their own club DNA and at QCFC we have done just that to try and ensure that kids who play for us, whether it be at 6 or at 16, know what to expect and how we intend to play the game.

I think because we have had such 'short termism' as a club, especially over the last few years with different owners, numerous managers with different styles, we have not had a long term approach or strategy for this. Peterborough have set their stall out over the last 9/10 years and said we are going to be attacking, we're going to look to buy young attacking players etc etc....

We can agree on sentiment I understand Julian is very close to and has a lot of respect for Stuart, I'm not sure bringing Stuart back will effect next years season ticket sales that much, especially if we are in league two, but playing devils advocate if Juilan gets anywhere near his 20,000 dream it will be because Stuart has stabilised the playing staff and got us promoted.
I can understand your concern with regards the quick appointment of McCall I believe he was the only one who could get every fan (well almost every fan) onside that has to make sense.
Out of interest who would your candidate have been if not Stuart and would your new man be expected to still get us promoted or would you have said you have a clean sheet with regards what's left of this season and the goal is promotion the following season, as many are suggesting longtermism.
We all know if Stuart fails to get us into a play off place it will be down to Bowyer and up to a point you can't disagree, he had us going pretty well I believe 2nd with a game in hand at one time, yet he couldn't keep us in a play off place never mind an auto place so that has to be classed as failure dont you think.
Let's hope come the end of this season you will be going online or taking a trip down to the ticket office to renew your season ticket, one individual shouldn't be any reason to stop supporting your club.

I think every City fan knows that era of the club and it cant be denied it was not a great time for Stuart but as has been quoted many times he still had us in or around a play off place given his poor run.
But let's not beat about the bush mate the results were a side issue to his boss , the first bad run (which every manager goes through) was Rahic's chance to get rid of the man who he knew he could never attain the respect and status of Stuart McCall and that really was a major factor with Rahic.
I could understand why both Rahic & Rupp wanted to change things it looked like Stuart could not turn it around and his past managerial history suggested he found it difficult in the past to do just that, most fans believed he should have been given longer but that was never going to happen under Rahic and the nodding donkey in Munich.
You and I know it was more than results that got McCall the sack, and thank goodness Rupp was brought to his senses and reacted by sacking Rahic.

I'm not Mccall's biggest managerial fan but you've completely contradicted yourself there - he's an average manager but has a very good win ratio!!

The club was only going one way with Bowyer.

    Stick to fishing.

Looking at Stuart's managerial record, details of which you ignore,
his first go at City was a failure. He was not experienced or ready.
He openly admitted that and did the honourable thing and stood down.

His time at Motherwell was a success despite what you want to believe.
They finished 3rd and played in Europe. The SPL is a two team league
so any other team who finish 3rd is the best of the rest.

His demise at Motherwell came through drastic cuts in
the budget which meant his best players leaving and
    that ended his time there.

His 3rd attempt back at City was under Rahic,do I really need to add to that?

Scunthorpe was another club with a sack happy chairman and
in my opinion the wrong club for any manager wanting to
    build something and needing time.

Being back at City he has lifted the club and will continue
to do his best as we all know.Promotion is now a possibility.

Calling Stuart McCrap is disrespectful and offensive.Try
supporting him and the club and who knows,we may see
    you buying a season ticket??

I hoped for a Warnock/McCall pairing to see the season out. Hopes or expectations? Different things really, I hope we make the autos but expect we will just scrape into the play-offs. One thing is for sure though, surely even Norman, Brisbane and a few others will accept that the appointment has already brought back a significant feelgood factor. And irrespective of the "cynical" nature of the appointment, it has already got a few thousand quid more through the doors in terms of of people who have openly said that they now feel like going back. Still an awful lot to do but at least some positivity has returned and I expect it to continue. For the love of god, enjoy the positivity while it lasts. Oh, @brisbanebantams@brisbanebantams - thanks for at least explaining your thoughts on McCall in an earlier post.

Just found out that my sisters wedding is on the 16th of May  I will be missing the final by the looks of things. I text her last night and she gave me a pass that I could go to Wembley if it happens. However, I can't see the rest of the family understanding. Will it be worth the aggro? Or do I just bite my lip and head to the wedding if we get there?

I remember a couple of friends getting married, a number of years ago, on a match day. They deliberately refused to invite me to the wedding, but invited me just to the evening do, as they knew that would allow me to see the match. Proper friends.

Would the kick off be at 3? Obviously could just get the train straight back up by myself. Just whether my family would be happy with it being an immediate member of my family. I've actually got a role as well which doesn't help. :(

I don't think you've got anything to worry about. If by some chance we did make the playoffs the other teams in there would beat us anyway

If we managed to fluke our way into the playoffs and fluke our way to Wembley and fluke our way into league one we'd come straight back down.. Not that I wouldn't be happier doing that then spending another season in league 2

So you're saying anything we achieve this season will be because we fluked it.
