The players at the top such as Federer, nadal and Djokovic don't rely on their serve. The ones that do very rarely if ever win a grand slam title.

Our football is boring though and Reeves dropping deep to just past sideways isn't helping.

Teams try to nullify us because they know Bowyer's tactics are negative. So what you do is stop the space so you know the Bowyer tactics are not creative enough to worry you then you hit on the counter because the team has no pace.

With January approaching I hope Doyle is coming back. A 20 goal man at that point a player that knows how to score goals at this level and if anything to slow Swindon down.

Oh and we should be beating LO no matter how many injuries. I hope Bowyer isn't making excuses for no or that is a worry.

Biggest worry though are season ticket sales under Bowyer if he continues with this boring football.

A Tennis player prolonging a rally for our entertainment serves absolutely no purpose at all in him/her trying to win the game. Team selection, formation and tactics on the other hand directly influence the way we play and our ability to pick up results. If playing with no wingers hampers the side and plays a direct role in our lack of attacking threat then it's constructive and is more than just a mere preference.

Only positive from yesterday was Paudie's performance. He dealt with their big men generally well and made some heroic blocks late on. If it wasn't for him we'd be sat here talking about a defeat.

Maybe the plan is to get Doyle back and play him against Swindon on the 4th Jan can you imagine what the pundits and supporters of Swindon would say if Doyle got the winner for City.

Maybe their players would get confused and pass the ball to him by mistake, forgetting that he's not playing for them now.
That's pretty much the only way he'd get the ball in a scoring position with yesterday's tactics and formation.

Was a guest of some Orient fans yesterday so watched it with them - and as most have stated it wasnt an easy watch! They were surprised we did go for the jugular a bit more as their team low on confidence but were generally pleased with a point. I know GB is getting quite a lot of stick for the dull style of play but 2 things I think we need to remember - last season people on here were crying out for us to tighten our defence and to become difficult to beat and we have achieved that. I know thats not exciting but we just need to remember how flimsy and weak willed we had become. Second thing is I really think the time for a bit more judgement on GB is at the end of January and has he then strengthened where necessary and sorted the obvious imbalances in the squad.
I know its not pretty and easy to watch but we are more or less achieving our goal which has to be in the running to get out of this division at the first attempt

Yes your spot on, I just hope that Bower has a plan to stop him if he plays against us maybe he will just keep to his normal tactics of 11 in our half of the field for 85min

Am I missing something? Doyle won’t be allowed to play against us unless they make the move permanent.

Yes, completely spot on. One of the dullest games I've seen in ages. To be honest, we probably deserved to lose. We created virtually nothing and it was hard to see that we had any credible plan how to do so. It was hit and hope.

.I think all of us who witnessed the performance yesterday would agree was disappointing aka Macclesfield Town, however the plus side is we manged a point and moved up the league. Hopefully with players back from injury GB will move from his 5-3-2 formation to a more attacking 4-4-2 at home to Salford City on Saturday.

Bloody hope not going to Swindon to see a double over Swindon , I don’t think that’s a big ask because in my opinion Swindon for me were not that great at VP having said that we are no better at the moment hopefully we will get the Xmas results in our favour and it could be 1st against 2nd

Our cautious approach will be tested against Salford.
An ambitious mid-table side who despite losing a fair few have pace and play it on the deck.
I think Bowyer will rue not attempting to brush aside teams like Macclesfield and Orient by thinking our home form over Christmas will bring us points.
Sceptical maybe. I hope i'm pleasantly surprised.

Oldham were the better side first half but as at Valley Parade for all their pretty football they couldn't finish, Swindon got a goal against the run off play bang on half time from Woolery a quality strike but if the lad hadn't fancied himself he could have just slide the ball across to the far post where guess who was awaiting to put it in an empty net with the Oldham keeper on the near post.
Swindon came out second half and did the business, and were never troubled you knew with their attacking movement Doyle would be on the end of a ball in the box, and he was and what a quality finish, touch, control and placed it in the bottom corner.

Winning at home and drawing away will get us into the top 3 and promoted. That’s all that matters this season. The pretty football can wait until we’re out of this depressing league.

Problem with that is it puts far too much pressure on winning at home and it's the way we get the point.

Are you travelling 8 hours plus and spending a load of money to watch awful football and getting a point to a team that utter dog?

I understand your mindset but with awful football it doesn't work
