It’s a poor show when the likes of anti-semitism and islamophobia are seen as political weapons on either side. And they are, by both parties.

It denatures the seriousness of the issue and toxifies the debate to the point of a worthless token that worsens society. A lot of this election campaign has been in that vein and it’s dreadful. I’ve not known an election this bad natured in my lifetime. Either care about these things all the time, or don’t.

Correct. We're just muddying the waters further when the enormous issue of the day is brexit. That's the reason we're having a GE and that should be the sole issue on display from each party. Everyone should be entirely clear about what each party will do about brexit if elected.

I agree, but we should be clear about what Brexit actually means. I think one of the biggest mistruths being told in this election is ‘vote Conservative and get Brexit done’ - it’s a wildly successful line and I know why they’re peddling it, but it’s simply not true. Brexit will be anything but done once this election’s done.

There’s been little to no discussion of what life after Brexit will look like, and that’s been the key justification for pursuing it in the first place - to forge a new path. It’s only reasonable to set out what that path looks like.

I think it's fair to say the country is rife with it. Unfortunately, we live in a racist society. Not every anti-semite or islamaphobe is a Labour or Tory supporter.

I answered you, you just ignored it. I said comments like that normalise it and it grows from there.

I'll use another example. Jihadists first its Joahadisrs, then it's the religion of peace then it's open season on muslims. Same with Zionism then it's all Jews as.everyone linked to Israel is seen as the problem.

I recently saw someone on a public form call anyone who wasn't voting Labour a Brexit racist. When questioned about this he said all leavers were the same. He then started to back track when asked if the 50%+ in Bradford who voted leave were racists. This is a theory jumped on by remain who openly call leavers racists and over time that becomes normalised.

But this is how politics works every election m8. Ask the parties what their 'manifesto' is and they'll tell you more about the oppositions promises than their own. Do we really care whether Boris has a bit on the side or Jeremy has or hasn't apologised for something that may or may not have been perceived as anti semitic? Nah, what we care about is our kids education, whether we are still gonna have a job and a roof over our head and if our NHS will fix us when we're broken.

And they wonder why no one trusts any of them to run the country...

Depends how you define the parameters of rife and what you constitute as racism. Speak up against twisted idealogies of religion, your deemed a racist. The word racism in itself is very dangerous due to the way sections of society (and especially both parties leading up to this election) use it to massage their own agendas.

Its a shame after asking him if he's said it and he denied it, Andrew Neil should have then run the tape.
He's not by himself they are not all liars but many are economical with the truth. when questioned.
Roll on a week on Friday and hopefully we have a party with a majority big enough to run the country without a coalition.

Hopefully after next Thursday we can get Brexit done and then sell off the left wing biased BBC that is a tax on the poor,
Oh and cast Corbyn to the dustbin of history and Build a Labour party that the majority can support

You didn't answer it. I asked a simple question. Was the politician's passionate speech on that clip anti-semitic, yes or no?

That's why this one is so crucial, as I have said before we could at a push survive one term of labour administration if we held our nose (and our wallet) and rebuild after the economic damage that they would do....but... these current momentum/marxist/cruel/lying money grabbers are something else and could grab and keep power for many a year to come as they could likely end the idea of any further elections, they really are that dangerous.....

I think anti-semitism has been a problem within the left and the leadership were slow to deal with it to begin with but it absolutely makes my blood boil to see people (including several in this thread) calling that out and making no effort to challenge the repeated anti-semitism, Islamophobia and racism from all levels within the Tory party including from its current leader. Absolute rank hypocrisy, these people clearly have no actual interest in fighting these issues and are just weaponising it for political point scoring. Disgusting.

As some have pointed out Brexit will not be done overnight BUT I do believe if the Tories have a majority that can't be challenge in the House of Parliament, that will without doubt be a situation where the UK negotiators can use the "no deal card" to our advantage, because the Irish situation is not acceptable to either the North or the South.

There has been very few instances of evidence of anti-semitism or Islamophobia in the conservative party only accusations from Labour trying to deflect the fact that it is anti semitic since Corbyn and friends came to power,
It is ironic that those that accuse Boris of islamophobia quoting the article he wrote about the pill box quote do not read or publish the full article where he was SUPPORTING rights for all women including Muslim women AND THERE RIGHT TO WEAR ISLAMIC CLOTHING

Except Labour of course who are brexit neutral UFN. Then they will definitely, probably, maybe act on the will of the people (for the 2nd time).

At least the other parties have stated their stance.

This country needs a strong and capable opposition party. There isn't one. Our politics has gone to the dogs since the Brexit referendum.

I mean, this is just bollocks isn’t it? There’s plenty of evidence of racism within the Conservative party. And I’m not trying to deflect from the Labour Party either, this is entirely through a non-partisan lens (as these things OF COURSE should be!)

On Boris Johnson’s choice of language, it’s exactly that, the sentiment and context in this instance is completely irrelevant (it’s like going ‘them (n-word) are alright aren’t they?’) - it’s still not really acceptable and he should have known better.

You must know these things, it’s perfectly fine to criticise the side you believe in! We all should be doing!
