He should play whatever formation accommodates the top scorer in England.

Well we could do with making a decision before January tbh. If he is to be sold then so be it, but we need a striker, plus for me we still need a central midfielder who can really get hold of the game.

No point bringing him back, GB would just do to Doyle what he has done to Vaughan, Make him a donkey

Might as well play with six midfielders, felt for Vaughan in the end having to trawl the pitch to try and get involved.

    Donkey's work hard, mate.

No chance he'll make Doyle into a worker.

If Doyle DOES NOT come back, I genuinely expect two new forwards in January. At least one of them must be a starter.

January is going to be pivotal to how our season pans out. We are still well placed in the league but the creeping doubt i have reminds me of the doubt i had when were in the playoffs in the second season of McCalls second spell. We just don't look particularly convincing. Don't think we are too bad defensive wise but going forward everything looks laboured. There's no reason why we can't get promoted but then i think we are just as likely to finish outside the playoffs, i think strengthening in January is essential if we want promotion.

I think we need to strengthen to make the autos.

I think the play offs should be nailed on.

Depends how consistent we are i guess. I don't think we are any worse than the teams above as it stands but i don't think we are any better than 5 or 6 teams below us. Might change my view when injuries clear up.

A ridiculous dig at a player outperforming our strikers by a country mile?

I think you have to factor in a very likely shake up.

Sides like Scunthorpe WILL be in or around the top 7, that was clear from our game against them, Colchester as good as any in the top 7, and so you have to start weeding out two or three to make way.

I don't think it will be us.

Let's face it, if Swindon lose Doyle and Yates, they have to try and rebuild midseason.

We might be worried about our midfield loanees and the possibility of recalls, but they're literally built on the success of two players who aren't theirs.

Unless we do the bookkeeping for city we can't say if we can bring him back regarding current costs. But if it's possible he has to come back for me.
All the talk about them taking points off rivals doesn't cut it for me, 3 points each off a few teams shouldn't make or break the season. Also, they're currently sitting as champions, those 3 points off all the rivals would suggest they would stay there.
I can't see City as champions at the moment so that leaves 2 places, so maybe if Swindon are derailed it would open up a spot. I feel that is by far the safer bet.
And if he sits on the bench and sulks so be it, it seems this squad is bonded enough to tell him where to go, rather than be unsettled by it.

No ! No ! and thrice No ! We should sell him to the highest bidder ! . My reasoning is simple ? There is no one on the pay roll at Valley Parade anywhere near capable as a coach or tactician of working with Doyle to get what Whelan has managed to get from him. That includes Bowyer who worked with him for nye on 6 months !.

If by some quirk he ended up being hauled kicking and screaming back to Valley Parade sure as eggs are eggs he would not score a single goal for us to seasons end. Thats not to disrespect Doyle but to show the sheer lack of understanding of how to work with him from Bowyer and his staff !

As for today just watching that complete amatuer showing at the back and up front ! We're league four alright and thats where we will be staying unless someone comes up with something better than has been served up these past few weeks. Not sure losing games to weather and postponement is any good for this bunch either ?

Down to 7th now and next Saturday becomes a must win at Macclesfield. Has anyone got any idea how that can become a reality because I dont reckon Bowyer has ?

So,the sensible thing to do is get the leading goal scorer of the division back.

    Weaken a rival

They're top mate and we struggle to finish teams off. We need him back.

I don't really see how an argument can be made against it anymore, given how ridiculous his goalscoring stats are at Swindon.

They either buy him, or we bring him back.

I don't think he'll do the same here, and I think it will be expensive to have him back, but it's pretty obvious we can't continue to part-fund Swindon's promotion push, given how lousy they looked without Doyle at VP.

    100% agree.

The club is looking soft at this moment and like it's been played.

I didn't know Paul Jewell was a director at Swindon.

Everyone is laughing at the deal. We have been mugged off.

It was still the right move when we made it - and it allowed us to bring in a few good players as a result. We really strengthened our midfield, which is now the best part of our team.

I don't think we were mugged off, and I don't think anyone at Swindon should be openly laughing at the deal - unless they can easily replace Doyle, and possibly Yates, they should just be thankful he was held in such low esteem at Bradford City after a horrible season last year.

Remember the transfer of George Miller last January. Middlesbrough sold him to Barnsley while he was on loan to City. Barnsley allowed him to stay at City until the end of the season. Why can’t we do that with Doyle?
