I wonder if there is a ‘Loading Restriction’ area to ensure that Emergency Vehicles could get to VP if there was an incident?

I am not saying that that would be the reason, just a possibility.

Probably the reason for this on Thorncliffe as the gap left last season only just allowed a car through

I understand that argument but where the cars were parked the road is probably the widest part of Midland Road and unlike the road behind the kop (Thorncliffe Road) or the roads running to the North West corner (Burlington Street and Cliffe Terrace) where no one had parked.
Strangely double yellows apply on those road and disabled drivers could park there for up to 3 hours which makes the targeting of the disabled on Midland Road very suspicious.

Just a thought about the ‘3 hour slot’. The Civil Enforcement Officer (traffic warden to most people) would usually have to have some form of evidence that the vehicle was parked at a certain time. So I would assume that the vehicle would be place for say 2.00/2.15 and that a CEO would have a timed photograph to prove this and that the vehicle would be in the same place between 5.00/5.15?
Not going to VP along the Midland Road, then l haven’t seen the wording, but unless there is a ‘no return’ provision on the signage, then the onus would be on the council to prove that the vehicle had not been moved in the intervening period.

when you use a blue badge they have a little clock that you set to your arrival time, unless they have changed. If you put the incorrect time you can have you badge removed

The length of time parked becomes immaterial when the kerb is marked as a loading area, which it seems to be what has happened here. @cibasteve@cibasteve has questioned how this location could possibly be used for loading anything and I agree with him. There are no businesses affected. I hope the Council will be sympathetic to cancelling the tickets as those with blue badges were allowed through the roadblock, which in my view gave the impression that parking was permissible just as it had been two weeks ago. I also hope they will remove the markings or have a cast iron reason for not doing so.

the reason is they want to keep it clear during match days.

this was all discussed when they first started introducing them. The club were against it and sent @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler to give the clubs side, but the council decided to do it.

I think for those inside the closed off bit the club have to take some responsibility as the stewards should have been informed at their briefing about the changes and to tell people as they let them through, actually maybe they should just not have let them through if they said they were parking as it wasn’t possible to do so legally once all legal spaces had been taken.

edit - sent it probably a bad choice of words, when the club asked @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler would be better

I think a few obvious signs going up a few weeks before, warning of the coming changes might’ve helped, and maybe instead of sticking tickets on the windscreens on the first match day, a friendly warning, and next time they’ll issue tickets...But, I’d be willing to bet these wardens aren’t council employees, but subbed out privately, I.E- pay the Council a certain amount each year, and anything they make above that, they keep. These companies will see yesterday’s situation as easy meat. They’ve got targets to meet.

Beat me to it. I use the NW Corner when I can attend, purely because I'm dropped off just yards away from the steps (which in themselves are like Kilimanjaro when leaving, after the game). Even so - in my current state, walking more than 25m at a time is a serious challenge .......Which is why I doubt I'll see a 'live' game this season :(

I think you may have missed the point, mate. It's not so much the law breaking (severe or otherwise), it's all to do with who is punished, and who isn't. :)

There's a definite decline in parking standards around certain Bradford postcodes but I've no idea how you'd link a persons ethnicity or skin colour to an empty car.

How do you know who is punished and who isn’t? Alright, you know who was punished yesterday. But apart from that, how does anyone know?

I don't know !! My point was reflective of a number of posts within this thread, that's all. For me personally, I don't care either way, as I never knowingly break the law.
