So what don’t you get? You clearly don’t rate Devine or Anderson and until recently I don’t believe you rated Akpan either. So why not bring in someone else? You’d rather we kept Devine on the bench so you can continue to whinge about him?

 

Anderson has not lived up to what we/Bowyer hoped not argument, but as we know he wasn't match fit and Bowyer took the chance hoping he may come good.
He started this season as he finished off last season and looks like he'll struggle to get on the bench when others are fit, I think criticism of Longridge is a little harsh, he's been brought in as a left back and I'd suggest he's 3rd choice, but still a kid only 24 and on a 2 year contract who knows.

 

Lonridge and Henley remind me of the players you get when playing Football Manager. You sign them up on a free during pre season as first choice, but once the season has got underway and you've bought some decent players in that position, you move them to the reserve team, and then forget you have them, until they remind you they are still with you by knocking on the door saying they have low morale

 

Longridge might be a kid to you and I Bronco, but in footballing terms he is experienced with over 150 appearances in Scotland.

Dont know who scouting him, but sounds like he may be out of his depth down here, or maybe homesick, which has been mentioned before

That's what I'm meaning with regards him only being a kid I would think even leagues 1 & 2 are testing his ability, and according to Wiki we paid a fee.

 

I always thought he was decent at Oldham seemed quite pacey back in the day , maybe injuries have taken its toll a little .Never really kicked on after leaving them but always played at a higher level.

 

He was garbage v Briggus pre season.

But who’s starting? I asked a perfectly reasonable question on why you think this was a strange signing when you don’t rate those at the club that play in his position. You opted not to answer and instead tried to pick a fight. I’ll leave you to it.

BTW, I’ve already said a number of times that I’ve followed the site for several months and finally signed up around 3-4wks ago

 

I agree , what’s not to like , 3rd in the league , suffering a few injuries so we sign a player on a short term contract that the manager knows well. I wish more people would have more faith in our manager who is doing a fine job.

 

Sounds fair enough to me.

Don't see a negative to this signing - probably won't have much impact, but if he gets the chance I hope he seizes it.

If Bowyer thinks Taylor can do a job that will do for me. He hasn’t got much wrong this season. Taylor has had a decent career ruined by a few injuries in recent seasons. Looked poor in pre season but probably was far from being fit

That's a little unfair. Granted he looked a little unfit but he was playing on a pitch that hadn't seen a mower in a while, in a frantic game. I thought he was the stand-out player in terms of touch, trying to play the right ball and making time for himself. (Admittedly that's not saying much as they're wasn't a great deal of talent on show that day).

 

I have only seen him in the second half v Liverpool and I thought he did OK then.

 

He played at Brighouse, yeah, and looked off the pace.

We fielded a trialist XI that day including Nortei Nortey, though, so happy to give him benefit of the doubt, though I wonder how fit he is if he hasn’t had a club after Bury went bust?

 

Bolton fans also think that Donaldson is garbage. Fair enough he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo, but he's far from garbage.

 

I can see why Bolton fans think he's garbage. Fans from other clubs expect more from their main striker than merely being able to hold the ball up. We on the other hand love non goalscoring forwards who put themselves about a bit, the fact that he's failing to do his main job is secondary to us.

 

I've always said our fans judge strikers on how many headers they win from long hoofs upfield rather than their goalscoring abilities. It was the same with doyle last year - what was everyone's main gripe? "Oh he doesn't win a header" despite scoring his fair share in a woeful team. Bizarre.
