City v Northampton Sept 7th

First game I had managed to get to this season due to holidays etc.

Thought we were ok in the first half, but nothing special, had a couple of moments that showed glimpses of promise, but felt like we could of and should have done more. Second half was much better and for the first time in a long time I thought we looked threatening and actually enjoyed watching the football we were producing. I agree with most of the things that are being said on here. Back 4 looks sound, although I am not 100% convinced by Wood, but believe there is plenty of potential there. Think BRE is superb and thought Mellor played well too. Thought all 3 wingers played well. Connelly grew as the game went on, thought Pritchard had a cracking game and Ismail really made a difference and turned the game in our favour when he came on. Up front Vaughan hassled and ran the entire time he was on and show his captaincy skills throughout the game and I thought Donaldson was superb, never stopped running and putting himself about and thought he was quite selfless at times.

The big thing that struck me today was that we didn't give up. I thought the first half there were people in the crowd who were having a go at everything we did. If we were keeping possession they were shouting because we were't going forward. If we didn't have a shot we were useless. There was booing and the name calling and language from some was quite embarrassing at times. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and after all we spend or hard earned cash on watching some rubbish at times, but the people behind me today were shocking. City has been rubbish for over a year now, but I felt today was better than we had seen for quite sometime. I actually walked away with a smile on my face and the 2 hour drive home was better because of it!

 

Enjoyed that more than a 3 nil romp.
Beating a team that comes to spoil and waste time and then end up with nowt.
Priceless.

 

He strikes me as that type of player who needs options around him. Now I’m not comparing at all but Ronaldo could play in any side but could Messi?

Me too. It’s league 2 and this is how teams will play against us. 1st half was shite but better 2nd half. I like Pritchard, he’s quite happy to put it in the box which is what me need. Ismail changed the game. Paudie back in the team and he scores. Him and BRE together could become a force not only this league but league 1. This message is a bit of a clusterfuck but I’m pissed and Pleased we got a result out of that after going one down. BowyerS needs to not feck about with the formation now, stop being a tinkerer.

 

Agree that one JM. Loved how the goalie used every minute up he could throughout the game until the last 5 mins when he ran around like he had a red hot poker up his rectum.

 

Nothing more enjoyable than dangling a carrot in front of them then whipping it away in the last minute

They didn't like it at all even though they had been doing it for most of the game!! They'd been taking 15/20 seconds for every throw in, 20/30 seconds for every goal kick, kicked or ran the ball away at every opportunity and stood in front of every free kick so we couldn't take it quickly and then started getting wound up when we slowed it down, they started running after the ball and passing it to us to take the throw ins, lol!! What goes around comes around....

 

I don’t have a problem with gamesmanship we were doing the same in the last five minutes. It often backfires as it did today for them but in the past we haven’t been street wise enough

Just for a bit of perspective, I’ve been scrolling through the ntfc hashtag on Twitter. Quite entertaining. Most fans unhappy with Keith Curle and want him sacked - even at this stage of the season. A few even mention him being replaced by PP!!

 

who was the clown (spectator) who got run over by Paudie after his goal?? The stewarding seemed a bit slack there.
