Reading the last 3 pages of this thread shows just how different each one of us sees things. Some praising Patrick, McCartan and Devine, others saying how poor they were

Wouldn’t it be utterly boring if we all had the same opinion!

There is no doubt Patrick has attribute Power and pace. Unfortunately his feet aren’t connected to his brain. Whether that can be improved I doubt

Well I loved it today, I had forgotten what it was like to win a game with ease. I am not going to criticise any player, and I thought Oldham had good attacking play which put us under pressure for large chunks of the first half.

I thought our defence today was immense, and by far our best player was Ben ER, wasn’t he just fantastic? Plus our goal keeper who also had I will keep a clean sheet no matter what it cost. Mellor and Henley were really good.

V&D were just fantastic they just warmed to the task, they must have been exhausted , they ran their socks off.

Scannell not quite fit yet, but you can see his skill and power. Connor Wood, he was amazing his crosses were on target, with pace and bend, more of that please.

Midfield is still weak, but both Palmer and Devine grew into the game and gave their all.

Every single one of them put a shift in, and that is what we were screaming for last season.

I can go to sleep a happy woman.

I thought the same, in terms of pace, size, physique, he looks a Premier League player.

And then someone passes to him and the illusion is swiftly shattered.

Not totally ready to write him off as a League Two bit-part though.

 

I have no issues with Patrick being criticised. But I do find it laughable that McCartan got praised for getting into good positions. Especially when he shot and found the upper tier.

Patrick is poor and his brief cameo showed this. But McCartan wasn’t much better

 

I am hoping that both McCartan and Patrick will learn from being around more experienced players. Certainly Omari pace and power would be a great for us if he could use it in conjunction with his feet. McCartan is coming back to fitness, and they both need match fitness, so hopefully get a run out in some of cups and behind door friendliies.

 

I think he's benefiting from having BRE next to him. In this partnership BRE is the dominant one and AOC the one who sweeps up behind. I think this role suits him better than having to be the aggressive and dominant centre half he had to be last year when partnered with NKP.

 

How has Richards-Everton spent his career playing in the Scottish pub leagues and Accrington reserves?

Excellent defender.

 

Great Team performance yesterday including the substitutes.
Oldham played some good football untill Donaldsons goal, which effectively killed the game.
Three points from there on in, never in doubt.

 

He was outstanding yesterday but we've had tonnes of CB who have looked class one week and abysmal the next. Hopefully he can perform like that consistently.

 

Everton has been good all season albeit a small sample size.

From what I've seen in 3 games I don't think he's going to be the new Knight Percival!

Not a huge fan of his long range passing but as long as he does his main job at the back...

 

Let’s not forget to mention our keeper who has been superb so far this year. Great handling again yesterday

 

Fair enough. Like you say, they both only had brief cameos yesterday, lets see what they can do when/if they get more game time.

 

McCarten did well to say this was his first match of any kind this season. He did get into good positions yes he did are a hash of one but he also brought a good save from their keeper as well it was a good cameo

 

Agree with almost all of this.

 

Did you not know we can do better than ROD though?

 

Apparently so. Even our back-up should be starting instead of him.
