    Bowyer:
“The football bits I learned were who could handle playing in this environment. That is certainly something for me to take home.”

Interesting comment. It infers that he doubts the charter of one or two. Mentioning no names, Hope Akpan....

I like the idea that he’s asked the players to text him over the next 24 hours to indicate what they’ve learned from the game too. Great idea. Get the players taking responsibility for how they can improve. If you can’t learn from playing against the top sides, you never will.

Over the years I have seen us concede a number of goals. More so over the last eighteen months. I have actually appreciated some of these goals and clapped (whilst shaking my head). I have not celebrated, that is a totally different thing. I guess I have an ability to see the whole game and to recognise the quality of some of the goals scored.

There are some goals you have to admire such as the one Paul Scholes scored from a Beckham corner in our premiership days

Probably the best goal I've ever seen scored at VP, that one.

all I saw was Liverpool fans celebrating, not City fans.

Of the top of my head:
    Scholes volley
    Collymore against Leeds
Nakhi Wells in the FA Cup
Someone for Crewe from nearly the corner flag
Robbie Blake scored a worldy in a pre-season I remember going to
I remember Jamie Lawrence scoring a mad solo goal one year too.

    First paragraph all good.
There really is no need for the second part.

Yes it was, and I meant in terms of the match, not the whole day. However I agree it was a valuable exercise for Bowyer, and the players in terms of fitness.

    Otherwise known as 'sportsmanship', Rod.
Me thinks Brisbane spent too long in Oz, and no longer appreciates this.

Think Jamie's best was at White Hart Lane. If that had been Beckham, it would have been an opener for match of the day every week.

Took my boys and we clapped all the goals bar the Liverpool 3rd we missed queuing for the pies. I appreciated Liverpool’s comfort on the ball and ability to string their passes together.

I hope Stefan had a word with Jurgen along the lines of wouldn’t this be a great place for a couple of your youngsters to develop this season.

loads raised for darby and rimmers foundation and the chance to show them that we're with them in their fight, a good reminder of what its like to be positive about city again and we gave liverpool a better game than the scoreline suggested imo. Can't say much better than that
