Although he’ll discard your names goalkeepers as guesswork because you’ve not seen them play. He didn’t anticipate anyone actually been able to name better keepers than O’Donnell.

 

Both of which you’ve seen a couple of times at best. You’ve not seen either player over the length of a season. For all you know, they may also perform at a similar level to O’Donnell on a regular basis.

I started watching City around the same time as you. The first keepers I recall were Eric McManus and Paul Tomlinson. The latter being decent. We’ve seen some good ones and some garbage too. I just don’t agree that O’Donnell falls into that level and those claiming there are better out there are deluding themselves.

As I’ve said earlier, seeing a keeper perform well a couple of times, doesn’t make them better than what we have. That’s why we have this same debate every season. Most were saying O’Donnell was a great signing last summer, because they had seen him perform well a few times previously and now he’s suddenly crap, because his form dropped from March....!

 

And I still haven’t seen any evidence that someone can name a better keeper than O’Donnell. Typing a name of someone that turns up and looks Worldy a couple of times a season doesn’t suddenly make them better.

What kind of “evidence” do you require for someone’s opinion to be valid? Scout report? Season ticket for the players club from previous season?

 

So when is he back from holiday so that he can sign?

The more I think about this the more I think I'd prefer a younger striker to play alongside Donaldson. Thinking longer term a younger striker would/could be more beneficial to us, gain experience from Donaldson and obviously would be cheaper. We would also have a sell on if he was succesful.

Vaughan to be seems like short term planning, high wages, not prolific, 31 next month and no sell on potential.

 

yeah. late 70's I would guess ( we left school in 75) signed from Halifax after getting a hat-trick in a reserve game.

 

Well that’s the beauty of football isn’t it, it’s all about opinions and ours differ on this occasion. Doesn’t make either of us wrong or right.

Will be interesting to see if GB favours OD or Hornby once the season is underway.

There is a number of keepers better than O'Donnell in League 2, in my opinion - but my opinion doesn't count because I'm a Bradford City supporter.
why ask the question if you aren't going to accept the answer.

 

Doyle was nothing to do with the conversation, it was about Donaldson and Vaughan.

You are renown on here for turning around debate, patronising and causing arguments.

Vaughan I think will be that bit of class up top we hoped Doyle would be last year.
Unlike Doyle , him and Donaldson with their experience should help the ball stick more up front , win more free kicks and just keep us at the top end of the field . We will have the land of the giants to come up for every free kick and corner so the more the merrier.
