I said that neither myself nor you know what he would ask for so we can only debate this on ability levels.

Was Vaughan or Donaldson on a similar level to McCarten? No, of course not yet we've managed to fit at least one of them into the squad so far.

But they won't be, it's not speculating it's a fact. One has just been released from a Championship club, the other has just been playing L2 football and like you say didn't show a lot of consistency, why even think the wage demands would be similar?

My original point was that for different reasons I'd rather have Shay.

1. I don't understand what either Shay or Jacks best position is.

2. Regardless of what you think of the salaries, I'll put money on that Jacks on a lot more money. I'm not sure we're going to play a formation that would suit either, so finance wise it makes sense to go for a slighter cheaper option and use the money elsewhere.

3. I've said it more than once, I'm not arguing about the standard of player. Jack is a better player, but current circumstances say to me we don't need somebody like Jack in our squad so I'd settle for Shay as an option.

4. The difference between Donaldson/Vaughan & Payne is the ages and the way their careers are going. Vaughan and Donaldsons wage demands I'd bet are a lot less than Paynes.

What absolute bollox. Rupp said he would fix the problems irrespective of what some keyboard warrior ‘demanded’. If he is only responding because of the likes of @Fordy117 typing nonsensical comments on a forum, why did he not fix it in January, when we all demanded so?

For a start, one point contradicts itself. “I'll put money on that Jacks on a lot more money”, followed by “it makes sense to go for a slighter cheaper option”..... in the same sentence...!

What the actual f@ck does it matter what league Shay performed in last season? His current contract was awarded when Rahic/Abbott believed he was at least a L1 player. And for that matter, Doyle played in the same league as we signed Shay for, and at times he struggled. He may have been on a Championship/Premier League contract, but that has ended and his next deal will only be what clubs are prepared to pay for an inconsistent L1 player.

So I don’t agree there will be massive differences between their salaries.

 

If you think Jack Payne isn't on a lot more money than Shay fair enough, but I can't brearsed debating about it after what I've already posted my thoughts .
