I can think of several other more 'muppet' like regimes where perfectly decent managers have thrived, i.e. Warnock at Cardiff, Bowyer at Blackpool

It's laughable to suggest that our regime is so bad, no decent manager will come. But of course, you know that the phrase 'decent manager is subjective, so you lot can moan no matter what

And why have we become so concerned with the budget that it's now do or die? Prior to a couple of years ago, fans realised it wouldn't be the best, shrugged their shoulders and got on with supporting the club

Grayson's recent years have been at the very top end of L1 or Championship. It's only deluded fans that think a club that has spent less of the last eight seasons in this division than Rochdale, should have a Top 4 budget. Burton didn't. Shrewsbury didn't. So it's clearly possible to do well without having a fortune

Thankfully, there are good managers who'll see that a Top 10 budget and the remaining players, gives them a chance of really making a difference and enhancing their career

Not everyone thinks this club is going to the dogs and will get relegated, simply because of a bad six months, largely caused by crucial injuries

Some of you moaning most have been a barrell of laughs in the good old L2 days

    My sentiments exactly.

If you gave me enough money I reckon I could get City promoted, but the reality is that a GREAT manager can work wonders on an average budget or even less than average. An example close to home is what McCall achieved at Motherwell.

I thought Grayson sounded conceited and arrogant on so many occasions. And what kind of man manager rips into his team on the radio. Even if they were to blame it is the MANAGER who should take FULL responsibility as he is responsible for motivating them and getting the best out of them. IMHO Grayson was not a brilliant man manager as he seemed to spend all his time blaming everyone else and then - to rub salt in the wounds - telling us how lucky we were to have him.

Out current situation isn't ideal, but I'd rather still be in existence in a few years time than giving Greyson a blank check so that he could maybe (or maybe not) get promotion to the championship again and boost his ego and his CV. If he was as good as he keeps telling us then surely he could get us promoted on a mid-table budget.

So yes, I think we have dodged one Hippo.

I think he’s more likely to have good connections with the National League and local amateur football, Bronco.
Did you see the Yorkshire Post article listing possible contenders, who did we have but Mark Bower as one!!
Now Mark was a great servant to city but as manager— I hope not

This can be done cleverly we need a hub of paid scouts over the uk say one in the south one in the north maybe Scotland and Ireland who recruit people to watch matches maybe on a commission type basis. I have friends who regularly watch local league football who recommend players to the club

if only our budget actually was going to be "top 10" and the remaining players were actually any good. sadly they aren't save for about 2 of them.

Can you tell me, where in the last few months Rahic or Rupp, have said they expect promotion next season?

I'd like to know why you think, they think promotion can be achieved with a mid table budget. Personally, I think it can, but via the playoffs but only with a good manager who will enthusiastically work with the current squad

Please don't cite the three year plan as clearly that will now have to be revised

Park it's easy. I just can't believe how naive some of our fans are. They seem to think that everyone else has this perfect regime, where they just let the manager do the frig what they want.

It's only a week ago that the Bolton executive, was apologising for the style of footie and promising that it would improve last Sunday. Didn't see Parky arguing about interference . Probably because he's more concerned about his job

Good point Butters .City used to have a scout from Keighley you probably know him his son plays For Silsden (when not suspended). I believe he had a fall out with the previous regime. Anyway well done Silsden in achieving winning there league under an ex City player who is full of passion .

I think that is correct. In my make up cv, no idea which thread it is on, I said the new manager needs to manage the owners:)

    No one thinks that.

and the worry about "inteference" is simply one of a number of things that all add up to why people have genuine concerns about the club and where we are heading under the present ownership.

I know exactly who you mean although unsure of the details behind the fall out.

I find it hard to believe that both Blackburn and Burnley have development centres at Beckfoot school bingley which is attended by 15 kids at each age group u6’s to u14’s yet despite being on city’s doorstep they don’t bother organising anything!!

I really hope the new owners can make this approach work, I would love nothing more then a local lad or a team of youngsters who can develop together to be in the city first team.

I’m just hoping we get a couple of early positive signings through the door and we can all have an enjoyable summer

Grayson’s message about us being lucky to have him and him being a Championship manager was his attempt to persuade the owners to gamble on him, abandon their strategy and invest. Unfortunately his inability to show any real improvement in performance on the field did n’t persuade them. If he had been successful and turned us around they just may have been tempted.

    Good post Dennis.
So we have a couple of owners who inform us we are aiming for the championship in three years and recently they have learned lessons that they will act on.
However, one of the lessons has to be it is very difficult to achieve a promotion challenge on a reduced budget funded by season tickets - these numbers being reduced has a result of under funded squad that has not been able to produce the goods at home.
Is this one lesson they are not willing to act upon - the owners actions will show this in next season's recruitment.
I would hate for us to be struggling at the wrong end of the league - because of summer recruitment *@?$ ups and then look to remedy it what is the January lottery ala Bury/Northampton.
If they are not to improve this year's budget the fans need to informed what the aim is for this season. In any case we need a very good manager/coach who will around for some time to prevent another Jan 18 - May 18.
