I think chances are a team who are relatively likely to go down will buy him for about £15million. Then if they get relegated they still have a good championship striker the season after. At his age plenty of teams will be willing to take a punt

Exactly, he's got that clean sheet record but I always thought he was very poor.

 

Not a rumour, but Wayne Routledge has just been released by Swansea. At 34 hes clearly passed his best at Championship level but would still have pace to burn in L2. Brings experience, hes made his money now, would we be able to tempt him? Perfect for a L2 team with aspirations about getting an attacking mindset and the opposition on the back foot!

Swansea have Daniel James who’s even less proven than McBurnie and has a year left on his contract, and he’s apparently close to a 15m move to Man United.

I’m not saying McBurnie WILL go for 15m, but I think it’s absolutely realistic to think he might. I could see Huddersfield being tempted, or Fulham, or even Cardiff - though that would be a hard one to do. Leeds might have a go, or one of the premiership new boys like Sheff Utd.

 

I can't see how in a back 3/4 depending on your formation you're keeper can be excluded he is very much part of that defensive formation, so if the defense is poor and leaking goals the whole defense is poor and leaking goal, just the same as if your defense is solid that must include your goal keeper.

 

The keeper isn't excluded but it's common sense that in a team where the defence concedes chance after chance and allows 20+ shots on goal a game the keeper will begin to make errors as he is overworked. Whereas with Doyle he used to have 3/4 saves to make maximum per game because the defence was so solid they didn't give anything away.

 

10m might be worth a punt for a recently relegated team or as you say newly promoted.
