If it’s not Rosler, who I think it will be, I can’t see it being an existing British based manager or one we already know.

I’d be very shocked with a manager with existing British football management history since the past two the chairman have employed haven’t really worked the way they planned. So I’d be shocked if they went down that route again.

Absolutely no way Darren Moore is realistic. His stock has massively increased based on recent weeks and despite very little management experience I don’t see that happening.........but it would be the one that I think would get supporters feeling a little more positive than right now.

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned Paul Scholes. Wasn’t he interested in the Oldham job at some point?

Him alongside an experienced number 2 could work. His working under Fergie, his contacts and understanding of the game would be beneficial.

The rest on that list are so uninspiring that we risk sleep walking into the new season.

What wouldn’t surprise me at all is if that duo that have just left Salford come in. Had three recent promotions, will be cheap, grateful for the opportunity and would make Edin look like a visionary if they brought success. All things that in my opinion will appeal to him.

I'm not even sure I care. How can anybody get giddy about a single person on that list?

You forgot to say he took over a club who looked completely doomed and took them to safety

Edin Rahic - let him have a go and get it out of the way. Give him a season and hopefully when/if he fails he will have got it out of his system and we can move on.

Sitting nicely in Eleventh as much as Newport could expect and with a good cup run as well. A good choice I think. Although bringing another player with club connections is probably a mistake

For some reason I think the owner's will be tempted by Graham Alexander. I don't know much about his style of play etc but just a hunch.

Cotterill and Rosler aren't the worst candidates in the world to be honest but again, I always attribute them to a workmanlike style which hasn't gone down well during Grayson's stint.

Can't see Bruno, McCarthy, Hurst or Coleman wanting the job. Agree with others that have suggested Michael Flynn as a left field option. Done a very good job with a low budget and young players at Newport and already has an affiliation with the fans after being popular here as a player.

Flynn extended his contract in February to June 2020 so a buyout would probably be needed, puts him out of the runners.

The trouble is with Alexander he has done well for the last two seasons and blown up on the run in. A familiar problem

    Some others to ponder:

    Daryl McMahon
    John Askey
    Paul Doswell
    Luke Garrard
    Gary Waddock
    Dave Challinor at Fylde

That'd be my concern with Alexander also but he has secured a promotion before with Fleetwood. A further issue being that he's been backed well at both clubs he's been at. He wouldn't necessarily be my choice but I just think he'll be in the running.

He'll take over at Christmas when whoever gets it now has been sacked
