How have we messed him around? He couldn’t get into the team because every time McCall played him, he didn’t perform to a good enough standard. He arrived unfit and overweight, whose responsibility for that? So that out him back, then he was playing catch up. Nothing would have given me greater pleasure than watching him play to his full potential. He was sent to Lincoln so he could actually play. Not sure any of that can be down to the club.

 

Who cares if he 'wants' to play for us. We pay his wages. Footballers get way too much leeway with how they can dictate if they play or not, if they actually stick to their contracts. They wouldn't get away with it in any other line of work and the fact they do has led to the current trend of prima donna, bang average players

 

I think the money spent unwisely by Mr Rahic will to some extent be written off
If we make anything back from his shambolic time in charge so and good
As far as McCarten is concerned if nobody wants him then he should return here
and see what he is made of
Its entirely up to him if he is good enough then am sure GB
will play him and thats wholly down to his attitude (he did it for Lincoln why not us)
If he doesnt want to play for us then he will not play or be seen by any interested clubs and
simply fade away

As i said earlier its his choice !!!!!!

to get some back!

 

I don't get the obsession with McCartan. He didn't have the personality or talent to play for a 'big league 1 club' so he went on loan to Lincoln. He's had a decent year individually and they've had a superb year collectively. I can only think that there's an element of envy creeping in that he hasn't been part of the shit show we've had to endure. Leave him to it. Let him move on - we certainly need to.

 

Bowyer will have to be involved at some time with regards McCarten's future, I doubt very much he will not have him in for a face to face, he will know from people at the club why he was allowed to go out on loan, but I'd be very surprised if he didn't try and convince McCarten his future was at Valley Parade.
With Lincoln looking auto certainties the conversation IMO will be done sooner rather than later, reading Bowyer's comments I would think most of the closed season will be devoted to his new position apart from maybe a pre-booked holiday.

 

Lincoln fans are 50/50 on keeping him With some suggesting we should keep him as he will do a good job in league 2 !!!!

Jeez that’s a big pill to swallow ffs

Well, bearing in mind A O’Connor managed 6 league goals and an assist, Payne has 9 with 5 assists, O’Brien has 4 goals and 3 assists, Ball managed 5 goals and 3 assists, Miller has 3 goals and 7 assists and Doyle scored 10 goals with 4 assists.

Two things to point out;
1. The above players got their records in L1 despite us being near the bottom all season
2. The above players aren’t good enough and collectively are part of a team getting relegated and likely to finish 24th.

So why does McCartan’s 7 goals and 3 assists show he’s any better than those relegated players????

 

No point in discussion with Park. Once he has made his mind up that you’re wrong, he won’t back down.

Everyone else can see why there is more chance not to throw good after bad, but not Park. Illogical thinking from an illogical person.

If he’d been the owner when we dropped into the 2nd tier all those years back, he’d have refused to let Carbone leave until we got a 7-figure fee for him, despite costing us a 7-figure fee per season to keep him...!

 

Midfielder? He’s played as a striker or behind a striker for them this season. He’s no more a midfielder than Josh Wright

 

So we make him stay unless we get a fee around £200k, even though keeping him will cost us circa £200k-£250k?

If it was going to cost me a similar amount to keep him, yes. Ever heard the saying... cut off your nose to spite your face?

We spent too much money on him. Do we let him go for free to free-up £250k on a player that Bowyer rates, or keep him “because we can’t afford to throw away £200k”?

So far, he has cost us around £500k and we’ve got nothing from him. Yet you want us to spend another £200k to keep him because of the earlier mistakes?
