If we get relegated, which players would you want to keep?

It's all relative.

Would I keep Eoin Doyle in League Two? Genuinely depends what kind of wage he's on. Do I think he'd score goals at that level? God, I'd hope so. Am I certain about that? Absolutely not! Would he therefore be worth a big wage? Probably not. That's based on the projection for next year, not just his woeful performances this season.

We don't need to worry about Ball, Payne, O'Brien or Miller, obviously. Ball is the most likely to stay, but can't see it if we're relegated - he'll be thinking this is a toxic club, still toxic despite Rahic leaving... he'll go somewhere else. Besides, he'd be priced out of the League Two market, more than likely.

I would definitely keep O'Donnell, I don't think there will be any better keepers in L2, and I'd look to keep Mellor, Clarke, Caddis, Colville, Wood, and maybe Akpan.

And even two or three of them just aren't very good...

 

I don't see what Edin's fantasy world has to do with it. Agents are there to protect their client's interests and it is fact that O'Donnell had a release clause in his contract with Northampton.

 

Billy Bantam ,hopefully, will be asked to stay on after relegation.

 

That doesn’t sound good, he might go as well if we get relegated. Although clubs might be wary of a goalkeeper with two relegations under his belt.

 

Edin/the club would have also had major input into the players contracts hence my comment. It's why Rahic used to blabber on about performance based incentives etc.

Not all players have relegation clauses in their contracts but i hope you're right in this case. We have far too many players earning a fair whack and not pulling their weight.

 

I’d definitely want to keep Doyle, but I can’t see Ball wanting to drop down with us. The back 4 needs a complete overhaul and I would only keep Mellor, Wood and Caddis, but again, would Caddis want to stay? Of the midfield, here is our biggest problem. Other than Akpan, do we have ANY players that are good enough for L2? I suppose you would include Scannell, Robinson (if he’s available) and Colville but other than that?

I bet many have relegation clauses. They're standard now. If they didn't they'd want to go anyway. Relegation is probably one of the reasons that Ball hasn't pushed for a deal as he doesn't want to play in league two.

I'd certainly want to play Wood and Colville. To be honest we should get rid of everyone and start again possibly.

I'd keep Caddis if possible. The rest I'd literally kick out the door with pleasure.

Well they will probably want away in any event. Our squad isn’t very good full stop. I won’t be shedding any tears if they decide to go. Scannell appears to be crippled with injuries and his latest injury is serious, broken backs suggest a weakness.

 

A lightbulb moment for me-the december feeling aint coming back anytime soon as too many of our players are just going through the motions before leaving.

Not many of us are. Spoke volumes that we didn't go two up top after the sending off. Plenty of evidence to show lone striker aint working for us. December did a right number on me, I thought for sure we'd turned a corner that badly needed turning. Now look at us.
