Can't see why Barnsley would need Miller when they have Moore (best target man in division) leading the line so well for them.

 

If Barnsley are, him and Moore would be good in this league together

 

I've heard Barnsley are interested in Miller too. Could be nowt but still...

 

I doubt they'll be competing for the same spot?

 

Also to add to this aren’t they set to lose Thiam too before window shuts?

 

And for a club that have a real focus on development, they've got a Adeboyejo on the bench week in, week out - he got a three year contract based on several non league outings where he struggled to score.

Fits in with the philosophy they have for signing young fringe players.

If there’s a plus from today, it might just be the dissolution - if it exists - that we can be moderate in our January transfer business. We need 3-4 quality players in, and that’s IF we keep our current loan players.

 

Just listened to DH after match report. He said it twice, that we need to bring in players this week. It made me wonder that there may have been some resistance from above to spend money on players in this window due to our upturn in form. I hope not, but I think it is clear that we do need players in and keep our loan players. I think we are being cautious about bringing players in while we wait to see what happens next Tuesday.

 

I think there are 2 factors. One is reduction of our wage bill. I’ve had the same message as the WOAP guys. We’re paying some eye watering salaries, and not just to the likes of Payne, Scannell and Doyle. I think there’s recognition we need to strengthen and a willingness to spend. But given our recent upturn inform, I think they’ll have changed tack and looked to be more patient in order to be more fincancially prudent. I.e rather than being determined to add players in the first week, they’ll use the first half of the window to move players on and the second to reinvest some of those salaries. There may also be FFP implications.

Secondly, and Its linked to the first, is the future of Payne. Knowing it’ll be resolved by Tuesday, it may dictate decisions on McCartan, as well as who we replace Payne with. For example, if he stays we may add a squad leve winger. If he goes, we may push the boat out and bring in a higher calibre winger rather than a number 10 type of player.

Either way we can’t take chances. We must strengthen

 

A general consensus on the Barnsley forum seems to be that we were arguably the worst team to visit Oakwell this season. And us being one of if not the form team of the division over the last half a dozen games.
If we take anything from yesterdays game its that we stick to what we do best, playing players out of position and reverting to long ball hoof will see us relegated. Also new players are badly needed to bolset what is a very weak squad, we can’t have another episode where Hopkin plays one of our best defenders in midfield because we have bugger all else as options.

Ok, it was ‘only Rochdale’ but their fans rated us as good, maybe even better than Barnsley on the basis of our respective displays at their place. Stick to what’s worked and we’ll be fine. F*ck about like yesterday and we’ll go down.

 

Just read the WOTP. It doesn’t make easy reading and fans need to understand that despite our upturn in form, our recruitment in the summer and Rahic’s lack of knowledge of how to run a football club, plus what is the going rate for very average league 1 players continue’s to impact our club. Rupp provided the funds for a promotion chasing team, that is very clear. Rahic went shopping, but wasted vast amounts on players. Now we just have to move players on, even if we can’t get them straight out, we might have to give initiatives to respective clubs to take them, it is question of minimising the damage; unfortunately we will lose money in the process. It is essential though we have to trim the budget. Then hopefully if we can avoid the drop, we can try and sort this mess out in the summer.

 

Its time for bloody rumours to stop.... and action to start. We need bodies in the building... good, dependable bodies who will fight to turn this shithouse of a season around and drag us up the table to safety.

 

If we had played Rochdale yesterday we would have lost.
That performance was woeful to say the least.
I don' get swept along with crazy mid table talk,it's evident our pathetic season will continue till May and on that showing it's evidently obvious we don't even have the personnel on the bench to make an impact let along tinker with the starting eleven.
The only saving grace at the minute is the form of other teams in what appears on the surface to be a terrible league one this season for entertainment value regardless of some of the thrashings teams have had.
If you have a team of quality players you will walk this league the rest are all relegation fodder.

 

What rumours?. The only credible one I've heard this month is Surridge, and perhaps Hendry

 

I think that’s because we’re playing our cards close to our chest in terms of transfer gossip. I’ve no doubt we’re looking at and speaking to many players - but we need to step it up now.

 

I guess Hopkins ‘i want players in at the start of January’ has gone out of the window....

 

I’m concerned that Mr Rupp isn’t prepared to invest anymore cash into the team.
I’ve also heard in the grapevine he’s looking to sell the club.
