Think he was rested because he’s carrying an injury

 

I don't know that he was rested - the official line is that he has a dead leg after the Sunderland game.

 

It was Parker that said rested when he shared the team selection

 

He also tweeted about him having a dead leg.

Dead leg four days after a game and rested surely are the same thing.

 

I believe if it is a bad one, it can be up to a couple of weeks out.

 

We should be doing all we can to sign Jack Payne permanently.

He wouldn’t be cheap but it’s an opportunity to sign a top player, who’s proving himself at the club, for below market rate - he’s out of contract in the summer and the fee involved shouldn’t be hugely significant to Huddersfield. Hopefully they’d avoid a haggling game.

And his resale potential could be huge. He’d be a true investment rather than a splurge. I’d love us to have this sort of ambition for once.

And it’s not a charity so I’m realistic. But they’ll have plenty of cash - they may be willing to help us out slightly....

The whole feeder club principle was overstated. A positive commercial relationship between the clubs, where we give them a nod when (hopefully) some of our younger players develop and are ready for a bigger move, in exchange for enabling a deal for the likes of Payne, could work for everyone. Even if they go down, I don’t see Payne being in their plans and I don’t see a huge demand from the championship in Jan. The demand will be from ambitious league one clubs - let’s be one of them!

 

Tbf both clubs have been great with each other over transfers in the past lets hope something can done again.

His contract is up in June Unless they take up the option of an extra year.

If they aren’t taking it up I’m not sure why he would agree to a transfer now when he could wait till June and move on a free thus possibly increasing his wages

 

Fair point. And finances are king. Perhaps though, the chance to be the talisman, playing every week in a side that looks like it could go places, and with a big support base, might play a part in his thinking. He hasn’t been a regular starter for any club for 2-3 years.

 

If they aren't considering the option of extending his contract for another year, I'm pretty sure they will want to sell in January rather than let him go for nothing in the summer.

 

Lets see who shows their hand first and puts the money on the table. Huddersfield have no reason to do us any favours, its a business after all and there must be a club out there that needs a Jack Payne to bolster their credentials. Lets hope its us.

 

They might want to sell him but why would he sign when he could wait and get a better deal

 

Security. He might want to hold on until the summer in the hope of securing a better deal but what if he suffers a really bad injury before the end of the season that will see him out of action for 12 months? Would he get a better deal then?

 

If they don't get a buyer in January I think they will extend his contract anyway likey did with Hiwula and still look to sell on ,there's no way he's leaving on a free ,really hope we can do a deal as said should be a good investment if he carries on the way he's playing now

 

My mates a Sheff United fan and reckons that Jake Wright could be heading our way. Not sure how true this is but would be a good addition as can play at either CH or LB and has bags of experience, and in my opinion is a better player than Chicksen and would offer cover for NKP, McGowan and O’Connor.
Re Ball if I was Hopkin I’d be looking to take over his contract thus allowing us to make another loan signing. I’d be very surprised if Miller or young O’ Brien went anywhere or Payne unless Sunderland make a quarter to half million bid for him. On the departure front Jones released Wright and possibly another but who no idea.
