yeh, they’d probably give their right arms for prolonged championship football right now but ask them what they wanted for the last 10-15 years and it will have been premiership football.

ask the other 23 clubs too and i’d guarantee at least 80% would say that after 6 or 7 years of championship football they’d want to take the next step and be in the premier league.

ask derby, norwich, ‘boro, forest, west brom, sheff weds, the blades etc, etc and they’ll all say their club should be in the premier league. no fans want their club just to sit and stagnate for 20 years.

I don’t get why a bunch of Germans would come and invest, especially when Red Bull are an Austrian company. With an Austrian owner and a Thai owner and with their HQ in Austria. Austria is a different country to Germany. Same language, different country. Austrians hate being called German.

Teams in the PL are stagnating? Club’s then fight to get into the top six ie the spaces for clubs to reach just gets smaller. That is the problem with competitive football, that is why you have the top clubs in the PL muting the idea of breaking away so they can compete with teams that are either the same or better and so it goes on.

I don't think clubs are allowed to name themselves after sponsors in England, even in non league. Shaw Lane had to drop the 'Aquaforce' from their name when they got promoted to the NPL.

Just highlights the impact 20 ill judged signings have had on finances and the Club's demise. I truly hope that the news that follows is everything we need to start another, but constructive, rebuild that gives us hope for a brighter future.

Interesting that Rupp is staying on, especially as he openly admits he is not a football fan and had never attended a football match until 2 years ago.

I suspect then that Julian will be asked to maintain hands-on day to day operations, and Rupp will simply be a silent partner.

However it will be interesting to see if Rupp is in this for a long haul or will look to sell up at some point.

Will also be interesting to see if the likes of John Duckworth and Wendy James make a return to the club.

In some ways I feel sorry for Rahic - he will be a broken man. He didn’t come to mess this up intentionally. He talked a lot of good ideas but executed his vision very badly indeed.

I don't see what Rupp would gain from this in the long-term. No love for the game and no money to be made. I imagine he'll eventually look to sell up once the club is looking a bit more attractive again.

As for Rahic, that was a spectacular way to turn a dream into a nightmare. I'm still not sure he could have got it so wrong if he'd intentionally tried.

Sorry BL no sympathy whatsoever for Rahic.

Only a fool would have come in and ripped up the blueprint that had been working so well under the previous board, manager, coaching staff and staff behind the scenes. Rupp is culpable for allowing him to do so for so long too.

All that was needed was a chat with Parky to convince him that he could still run the football side of itl his way, and ask what was needed to help us to continue the steady progress, and get us to the next level. It still infuriates me that Rahic thought he knew better.

So good riddance, hope he never steps foot in our stadium or City again

    ***WINNER***

Maybe Edin should take his own advice and stay away just as he was advocating Stuart should not be allowed back to co-commentate for the Sky Game against Shrewsbury.

We should only be having people back if they are the best people for the job.

    Not as a sympathy act

No sympathy what so ever for him. He should of come in and left parky/Stuart to the football side - I still believe that Parky was leaving regardless of the takeover.

Edin should of come in and sorted out the off field issues, the club within a club, pitch etc. He could of still had his development team and played football manager but let the manager decide if the players were good enough to get into the team.

He will go down as the biggest mistake in our history

Well, hopefully he's as pragmatic as some of the senior people I work with and has decided that he needs to at least get back what he's invested and the best way to do that is through Julian initially and perhaps he's putting his faith in Hopkin judging from recent signings and the new number two.

Most entrepreneurs recognise there's time to push forward and times to make hard decisions. Hopefully Rupp steps up and runs it as a business with the help of football people.

I’m in open revolt and am trying to muster an army against this point of view. Subtlety mind. He talked the talk? He didn’t really, he just stated the obvious truth that seems to be groundbreaking. No football club in league 1 can compete with a well organised club with parachute payments or a generous/pr hungry investor unless they beat the system.
The most mentally idiotic and wonderful thing for me about Rahic was that he genuinely thought he had a better system AND thought he was going to implement it.

It’s actually mad but more than that it’s properly tin pot. This is the sort of idea and man that should be shouted at by Gordon Ramsey for trying to run a gastro pub because he has a beard.

If Rupp is to take over the running at VP what was the reason for all the fuss about cancelling the flyover in order not to upset a potential buyer.
