So just to get some perspective here, BRE is stopped in a vehicle that has been flagged up as cloned and being used for firearms etc. Police stop him and quite rightly approach with caution. Cuff the driver and stand prepared with a taser against a potential 'shooter'. Instead of understanding the situation, BRE bleats about it and demands answers/apologies. Get a freakin grip. This madness has gone too far.

I do have sympathy for BRE, when I was 18 I was stopped on suspicion of a robbery at Apperley Bridge on my way up to Rawdon. They stuck me in the back of a police car, cars and vans either side of me all on a busy road for on lookers to gorpe at as they went passed. It’s humiliating and frustrating when you plead your innocence and it feels like they aren’t listening. That said I’d done nothing wrong and either had the police, both the car and my build and age match the description of the robber so they were just doing their job. So I calmed down by the day after, if the police didn’t pull me over they wouldn’t be serving the community and doing their job, same here. That said it is strange as others have said the armed police weren’t called, as the car was parked outside a shop maybe they thought they could ‘ambush’ him and get brownie points. Who knows but I’m sure it’ll come out in the report.
What I don’t like is all this posting on social media about it, feels like it’s done to incite hate into the police who are there to protect us. Social media is becoming one big which hunt, I just hope the police don’t apologise before any potential investigation like they did the other week. I’d want my employers to back me, I’m sure coppers feel the same atm.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Move along, nothing to see here. Just police doing their job. (which I pay them to do)
Its bad enough the police are a soft touch in Bradford without the rest of them in the county going the same way.shoatsy, Ponty City, RCarol and 7 others like this. -

Really does seem like the police can’t do their jobs I with idiots like BRE and his girlfriend about and all too happy to play the race card. if it had happened to me I would blame the criminals who cloned the car, not the police who are doing the job to protect the public and suspected a violent criminal on board.

I’d very much like to get my season ticket refund now in light of this. Not having my money going towards this case.

Thought it was interesting how BRE says this was embarrassing for him, so instead of keeping a lid on it, he decided to put himself all over the national news, thus making it all the more embarrassing by having his face appear all over BBC sand Sky Sports News. Hmmmm....

City are backing BRE after he was caused "alarm and distress."
Yet he wasn't alarmed or distressed enough to calmly pass his phone to his partner to record it.
Edit. If he was just randomly stopped and handcuffed I would get his angst but he was told why they were stopping him and once it was determined the plates had been cloned he was quickly released and let go.
If peaceful incidents like this mean the police can get violent criminals off our streets then surely it has to be a good thing?Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Salty, Ponty City, Bantam Boy and 5 others like this. -

If he is claiming "alarm & distress" then he should be suing most of the strikers he faced in L2

The police have every right to pull someone over if they have Intel and BRE has every right to be irritated about being disrupted while doing nothing wrong.
No real agro, understandable positions from both sides, little bit of verbal disagreement is completely par for the course.
Making an actual complaint seems pointless though unless they don't believe that the intelligence was genuine.SJBantam, Tony Wilkinson, Rocket and 4 others like this. -

Ridiculous. A mountain out of a molehill. Seems like the Police can't do their job anymore, particularly if the suspect is BAME.

I’m not gonna read 8 pages of this but here’s my opinion.
The police were simply doing their fecking job. He bought a dodgy car that had markers on it. Absolutely nothing to do with the fact he’s black!
I’m getting sick of black and Asian people thinking that they are somehow singled out for spot checks. They’re not, the police were doing their job.
And as for the club looking at legal action..maybe they’d be better investing money into the team rather than wasting it on this matter.broadsword, Bantamtom, Fools Gold and 4 others like this. -

I'm still trying to figure out why a car that had a firearms tag on, was stopped by unarmed officers.

Well he's getting confused. Because he's seen some famous athlete getting apologies from the police, he now thinks he's in the same bracket! Should throw the book at him for impersonating a footballer!
