    Let’s be brutally honest. The appointment of Collins was so bad that any name in professional football will be an upgrade.

    To be fair, most of the managers we've had since Colin Todd have actually been worse than Colin Todd.

    It's got to be. If he couldn't find the right British candidate in 7 weeks over the summer then the chances of someone suitable miraculously appearing now that the season is underway will be miniscule. Either get a German team in who are happy to work with the current model or change the model to work with an available British coach. That's it, there is no other option available.

    Nobody wanted the job in the summer, allegedly some didn’t even want an interview, if that’s true why should it be any different now?

    I’d love us to splash the cash and get Jon Coleman at Stanley. Done an amazing job there and I’m sure he’d love to test himself at a bigger club, if we give him free reigns to do the job.

    Other than that I wanted us to go for Bellamy in the summer. Speaks really well and is desperate to get a job. Think he turned down Oxford last season.

    I wouldent trust a German coach especially with Rahic interviewing would probably end up with another no mark.

    Simple ... because as football fans, we are renowned for our misplaced eternal optimism! ;)

    I see a few posters are still under the illusion that Rahic's way is the "German" way and a German coach would therefore be a good fit.

    I might be wrong, but I very much doubt there are any German clubs run in the same way Rahic is running City. I've certainly never heard of any where the co-owner is also the chairman, head of football, head of recruitment and involved in micro-managing pretty much everything the club does.

    Even German coaches wouldn't come to work for edin;
    In the Ricc from day 1 thread poster ericmcmanus confirmed that edin did try to bring someone over but being the cheapskate edin is the guy went elsewhere.

    Absolutely. The German model also involves meaningful fan involvement in the running of the club. Another reason why ER wouldn't have attempted this with a German club.

    We had a fans forum in February how often do you need fans involvement, do you want him to run every decision he make past fans, come on @Hulmebantam@Hulmebantam sort yourself out :p.

    My comment about a German coaching team was more about the coaching/development set up rather than the traditional automomous English "manager". One of my longstanding concerns about the management structure at the club is that we have a co-owner who is a de facto Director of Football which is just a terrible idea and certainly not something that is usual anywhere.

    I'm not sure we're even committed to the coaching/development model though - have Drury and Collins been replaced since their "promotions"?

    Name who you want but unless he's left to get on with the job I'm not sure what will change. (though Collins and his gang should walk).
