He clearly said he leaves it up to the players to decide who takes a penalty and when they take them. Proper managers and coaches have this planned out like macclesfield who subbed on a player in thr 90th min just to take a penalty. But aye, agendas and all that again

Yes, quite alarming we have not as yet complemented the strikers we have. It seems quite clear this is an area where we are lacking. I guess persisting with one up front in a game versus macclesfield town was proven to be unsuccessful though. We never created anything versus Barnsley, despite eye catching signings in payne and scannell. It's early days, but clearly, given the remit re. Cup revenue, this was a rubbish result. The next few games are very important now. Our lack of depth is a major concern to me, a couple of injuries and we suddenly look pretty lightweight.

 

To be fair a lot of times in far bigger games than this manager's have gone for players who put themselves forward to take a penalty. Says more about the players than the manager.

You really think Macclesfield had their 5 pen takers written in stone before kick off? Deluded.

 

Killa is a better player player than Collins was, he also probably knows more about the game and Collins knows it. Nothing against Collins but this job is too soon for him.

 

Strikers. are paid primarily to score goals
Head coaches are paid to tell them what to do and how to play
Every chance this would have gone to penalties
Should have been decided before they set off on the team coach
Inexperience starting to show already

You are right apart from one subtle difference, Players do put themselves forward but the manager approves it and chooses who takes them from who volunteers and those he wants to take them. Most managers have penalty practice as part of training so he knows who is the best takers.

 

So Collins feels comfortable does he about tonights performance.

The only inexperience here is in the belief that you should pick your 5 pen takers hours before the game and ignore what happens during the game.

 

Don't see why a manager would want a player to take a penalty if he wasn't confident.

 

Who said he would? But if you leave it to players to decide how do you know ?
Most players like taking them even if not very good at it,
That is why professional managers make the decision and not the players where those with the loudest voice and strongest personality will win over who takes them

Every one of those players should have been bursting to take a penalty for their new club
The manager should have used his own judgement and picked the five he thought would score

 

Another wasted opportunity to at least go another round or two in this competition, raising a few coffers and keeping the fans happy.

This was a game we should have won and Collins needs to learn from it and stop this lone striker sh!te

 

Glad I wasted my time and money tonight to watch Wilson, McGowan and O'Connor pass the ball in pretty triangles for 90 mins.

Pathetic attempt to win a football match. There was a moment just after our goal to stick another striker on and go for it. Having been to all 3 games so far, I'm not sold on Collins at all, he's got a lot to do.
