We are 7pts behind with 18 games left. Hardly a miracle required, just a solid run and then turn up for the play offs.

 

Plus the not so small matter of overhauling 9 other clubs to reach 7th. It will be a minor miracle to do that now

 

Problem is 11 home games remain and we are not putting teams to bed at home.

maybe Jan arrivals can change that, but we need to see a level of sustained consistency we’ve not shown so far

 

This league is dross. Yep, we are dross but so are the teams above. Its possible and the club should be going for it.

Giving up and rebuilding in the summer is pathetic and speaks volumes about our fans mentality.

 

Mate, we were 10 points off when Alexander joined. We had a fantastic run and were still 3 points off. So, we'd need another run of 6 wins to get near again. Then we need to avoid a run of matches were we dont win. We basically need to win 12-14 of the last 19. Its not happening. Especially with our terrible home form.

 

My mentality is one of realism.

Sure, GA and the players will tell you publicly that they still have a chance of achieving promotion this year, but deep down, GA especially, know its extremely unlikely.

I will attend the remaining matches relaxed and no pressure, because sadly I've resigned myself to at least another season consigned to the depths of the football league.

Need a run of 3 or 4 straight wins to get us back in the mix. Starting by beating Salford with a brace from Tyreik!

Our problem has been inconsistency. Beat the top sides but lose to teams at the bottom.

 

I'm just embarrassed that I got drawn in so decided to put down my phone and have a long walk with the dog!

 

Im a realist, promotion will be tough and most likely will not happen - but we should have a go at challenging. But giving up in January is pathetic - if you as a season ticket holder are happy with us not trying after 5 months then I find that bizarre.

 

The average to get into the play offs is the low 70s so to stand a chance we need 35-40 points from the last 19 games so basically 2 points per game. Since Alexander joined we've got 15 points from 11 games, keep that form going and we'll end up around 60 points so got to find at least 10 points on that. It's not impossible but probably unlikely.

 

Ah Tyreik Wright. The man with 6 goals in his entire senior career and we're all hoping he's the answer to fire us to promotion.

I mean, I'm hoping he's decent again but a lot of us are setting him a seriously high bar and I fear that it's completely unrealistic.

 

So how do we improve on that? We look to improve the squad surely.....

Folk suggesting we just stay as we are, save funds and rebuild in the summer...yet again!

 

I don't think any fan wants us to throw in the towel in Jan.... it's more that I think a lot expect that's what we are doing. Losing our number 1 and replacing him with a free keeper who's barely played didn't kick the atmosphere of the window off right and that malaise just seems to be around still.

Mathematically, there's nothing to say we can't make it up with a few good signings. It's this squad and having the consistent play to catch up and keep pace thats tough to see. The defence needs a massive upgrade, midfield needs some proper depth and someone other than Cook needs to bring goals in the league.

 

No it’s you trying to put words into peoples mouth. Nobody believes that at all. What some people are saying is it is far to early to give up trying and start thinking about next season.
Wright lifted the place last time with his pace along with Banks and it would be nice to see that again that’s all
