Never say never mate, many were amazed when McBurnie went to Swansea and played Premiership football then commanded a £20 million transfer to Sheffield United, if he has better players around him it can only help his game, if true it will be interesting what fee we get.
Just thinking last night Gent gets a lot of stick at times on here but the only three players we know we've had bids for are Lewis, Stubbs and of course Young Gent bringing all three to the club, its going to be an interesting 4 weeks or so.

Agreed, he's scored 16 goals this season yes in league 2 but he's only 22 and has obviously got some potential and time to develope. I'll agree he isn't Championship level (yet) but if a Championship club does come in for him it won't be on a whim, it will be because that club's coaches have seen something in him. With all due respect the posters on here saying Jake Young isn't Championship standard are not as far as I know coaches themselves. You make a good point about Ollie Mcburnie Dave. He wasn't really ready for 1st team football here at the time but Swansea saw something in him and it was interesting that they didn't rush his development. Yes Ollie was younger and Swansea were a Premier League side but my point is that coaches see potential that we dont, even if we have played the game at a decent level.

He has to prove himself at this level first he has failed at three clubs and has done it over three months at another and now gone five games without a goal. He is along way from being a championship player

Have a read of the post by @1975citygent@1975citygent articulate assessment of how professional coaches see potential and want to nurture talent. Have a look @Bronco@Bronco post on Ollie McBurnie. I didn’t see any potential in Ollie. He might be a long way off but he has talent and they will know how to get the best out of him.

If the interest from Preston is real and not a hoax post, what are the odds on him going to Preston and being immediately loaned back to Swindon? That would be a good move for all parties.

I would say plan executed to perfection. Made and executed by Swindon.

Someone deleted a tweet earlier saying that it was Leyton Orient who bid for Young? Probably utter nonsense if it's based from a deleted tweet, but there aren't any real links out there for the Young bidder.

I certainly called him out on it when he sent him off to Barrow literally days after we lost Wright. Although out on the wing is not Young's natural position, I felt then it was a ridiculous decision and continue to believe he would have offered more than any of the dross we brought in last January.

Pompey seemed to think there was interest on their forum.

their managers comments dont deny it really either, he just says doesn’t want to talk about a player under contract elsewhere.

their fans suggest he’s just the sort they’d sign. A player with the potential to develop.

They signed Colby Bishop for £500,000 two seasons ago, so I imagine that's about the maximum they would offer for Young.

Perhaps we already turned that kind of fee down? I doubt it, but maybe.

Worth nothing money has gone up and up since then. Reckon £500k would be the entry point now. Let's face it Barnsley offered about that for Lewis in the summer didn't they? If that's coming in for a goalkeeper, add even more for a young goalscorer with a better potential sell on.

Also worth noting, though, that Colby Bishop had hit double figures in 3 consecutive seasons in League One for his parent club.

Jake Young has had 6 months in League Two while out on loan.

I can't imagine any scenario where Young is worth more than Colby, I'm just saying £500,000 is probably the maximum they would ever offer.

Depends on much they'd allegedly want him.

Just had a thought, doesn't every team get far more competition and TV money from June when the new EFL TV deal kicks in? Well, I'm assuming it does otherwise it wouldn't have been overwhelming voted for. Wonder if we are playing a bit of hardball? Knowing that next summer the budgets will climb once again.

Young doesn’t want to play for us I think that much is clear. GA in his interview basically said all I needed to know with the fact that the player pulled himself out of training after 10 mins.
It’s now about getting the best possible fee. A couple of 100k should do it and that would be a good deal for everyone involved.

On the contrary there was a lot of potential with Ollie I used to watch him in training a lot in those days anspd saw him banging in goals for fun. He also represented his country whose coaches would have passed the word. And unlike some I thought despite being physically not ready for lower league football it was clear real potential was there. I don’t see anything like the same potential in Young. I hope for his sake he proves me wrong
