In your opinion as I've posted, other posters have a right to have a different take without the likes of your above comment, I'll repeat whatever fans post on a football forum will have little effect on what Bradford City sell (if we do) Jake Young for, fact, end of .

 

I hope JY stays and continues to score. Good for the club and him, and then perhaps the top end figures being quoted on here will be achieved in the summer.

There are numerous other scenarios that could play out of course, but in my mind one of the least favourable would be to sell now at a lower end figure and try to use the cash (or not) speculatively later in this window. I know I keep harking on about it, but we all know how risky this would be and would send the wrong message. And with Alexander being relatively new, there will be no other likely rabbits out of the hat for the ST push in the following couple of months after the window shuts. £200,000 helps, but not that much if ST sales start dropping.

 

Especially with what could be an appreciating or depreciating asset dependent on form. Sparks has to balance the books and there's no guarantee this squad will hit the playoffs this missing out on important revenue. It's a tough decision for Sparks and his judgement will be based on some things us fans aren't privy to behind the scenes such as cash flow and the remit from Rupp. Not gonna knock him on this one whatever happens, he's damned if he does, damned.if he doesn't.

 

Not sure what you mean by bullying but if you mean we should be publicly stating that we won't listen to any offers lower than a million then I'd be all for that. It's time to be Billy big balls rather than Billy Bantam.

A million and you’re telling others not to be daft?! Come on. So far the only name really linked with him is league one Pompey, the other names bandied about are in the 7 figure territory because they’re being touted by multiple championship clubs. It’s no different to any other auction where multiple interested parties drives up the price. As for mentioning Oli Watkins, the guys and England and Aston Villa international striker now, when people look to buy players they look at more than just a stat you can find on Transfermarket, Watkins and Young’s attributes are nothing alike. The other names mentioned also have more to their game, hence why championship clubs are looking at them and not Young. If Pompey make a bid, then 300k sounds about right. I don’t think we should bother selling at that price because we won’t really see any benefit from it, but the figures you’re mentioning belong in a Disney film.

 

I am not against Young been flogged but we have to maximise it and we all know to well we won’t. Also I do not trust Sparks, Rupp, Gent and to a lesser Degree Alexander to spend it correctly. Not that I think it will be spent, it will be used to swallow a black hole of some sort.

The debate around the big club small club - for me it’s not about history it’s about potential and we have masses. I’ve said this so many times on here but some fans associate ambition, potential with recklessness and oblivion (admin days) Genuinely think people are still battle warn around that and just happy to be Bradford city bobing along.

Thankfully and this is where the club deserve credit we have a rather young fan base which will hopefully in the future place further demands that the club size of this city should be doing better than 13th in league 2.

 

I would. It'll only buy Rupp a new toy so we might as well just keep the player and at least then we may get some benefif actually on the pitch.

 

I'd love a million but to go public with that sort of statement could turn out to be very embarrassing.
We are privy to just the one comnent so far with regards interest in Jake Young and that is the one Alexander has made, that there has been "lukewarm" interest at this stage but could firm up in the coming days the headline in the T&A being a couple of league one clubs, if that is the case and we're taking a stance that we want a million I don't think it will come from a league one club IMO.
We will get more of a handle on the situation if Jake is starting or on the bench and called into action during the game, that does not rule out that he could not be sold as we have seen in the past clubs buy players and allow them to stay at their original club.

I love the way a lot of posters know more about the value of a player they've seen play around 300 minutes of Bradford city football than professional football agents & managers.

Probably the same ones who would disrupt our formation to fit in Pointon because his 10 games and one goal prove he's going to be a premier league sensation.

 

Disagree on nearly every point, but with regards big club not being about history and should be based on potential is something from Disney, history is there for everyone to see potential can not be measured for exactly that reason, its what may happen not what has happened, how could you measure potential and guarantee it going forward?.
If we sell Young you don't trust anyone at the club to spend it, you're a very hard fan to please.
