Really? I thought he was awful in the first half , slightly better in the second. Something isn’t right with him, remember he had a spell like this when MH dropped him?

Yes. Anyone else notice he actually already had the yellow card in his hand before Smith even got up a remonstrated. Given the foul should have gone the other way, he couldn't have booked him for foul play.

 

Thats this division in a nutshell Kev. There are no worldbeaters, just clubs who are better run and teams that are better drilled. Barrow being the best example of that at the moment. No primadonnas in that side, just an astute up and coming manager getting the best out his squad.

 

They were nothing special and rely on been organised and working very hard with a tall centre forward who can be a handful and scored against us last time we met.
It was pleasing our fitness looked better and we looked organised ourself with a great workrate and attitude. A country mile from a MH team and long may it continue. A nervy ending but a welcome and deserved result

 

Seen Accy quite a few times this season and that was definitely the poorest performance I've witnessed. Created very little and looked off the pace for most of the game. Which is strange because they played really well against Wrexham last week. I expected them to give City a much sterner test than what we saw. Makes me wonder if all the background chatter about their gaffer possibly moving, coupled with the club supposedly being up for sale and the death of Sean McConville's wife at a tragically young age this week has all combined and affected their game. City did look defensively sounder than what we've witnessed recently, but they weren't exactly put under as much pressure as I anticipated.

 

That's fair enough I did feel we made them look ordinary though (though off field events may have taken their minds off the game too in fairness) - good day at the office, something to work off the back of. I'm not getting carried away but at the same time I think the players have been underperfoming, as opposed to not good enough, so if we get some momentum I feel we can head back up towards the right end of the table

As you say it was a terrible decision by the ref as Smith was being wrestled to the ground and to be fair, the free kick should have been given to him.

He was that bad we kept a clean sheet.

 

We did to them what so many teams have done to us. We never gave them time on the ball the work rate and pressing was very pleasing today

Best I can say…. We made them look ordinarily poor after 30 minutes or so .

 

I really think you have to give City some credit for that.Accrington usually have a great togetherness and work ethic and I think we outfought them today. We didn’t create much but we pressed and pressed and we were far the better side second half. That has to be our blueprint for the negative side of our game in the coming matches

 

He was very favourable to us for most of the game, giving us plenty of freekicks for nothing but after the Smith booking, he flipped and suddenly wouldn't give us anything. Consistency is all we ask for from referees and so he failed. It explains why he's dropping down the leagues

 

I thought Cook had his best game for ages. As GA mentioned after the game, he was a right handful, and his presence allowed that space and chance for Smith to score
