Which part of what I said is untrue though?

 

I thought our defenders did an ok job today given their limited ability but let's not go over board because a half decent L2 side putting in a half decent performance would of definitely capitalised on one of our errors. I personally don't think there is anything between our CBs ability wise any combination we use will always be average at best, good sides need 1+ very good CBs in their defence with average guys around him who will look better as a result of him, we're missing the very good CB and just have all the average at best guys.

They are a half decent League 2 side and they already didn't

 

Have to say this is the way I saw his game. He was better than previous games, that’s absolutely fair to him, but sadly i cannot see a team with Taylor in the starting XI finishing any higher than mid-table.

Happy to be proved wrong of course.

 

He made one big error which nearly led to a goal. The rest was exactly what the manager had told him to do, get the ball forward early and direct. He'll have far worse games but i guess to some he'll just be shit whatever he does.

 

Correct they are a half decent L2 side, I live at Cliviger not far from Accy and work around there everyday as the firm I work for is based in Accy, I have many Stanley mates / work colleges and they seriously believe it was their worst performance of the season and didn't turn up for whatever reason. In my original post I also mentioned them putting in a half decent performance which they didn't for their standards. Obviously many teams that get beat say these things but back to my original point being of I wasn't going to go too overboard with thinking alls now great that's all.
Still a great result for us and don't want to put a dampener on the day just trying to keep a bit of perspective.

 

A good win today and a deserved one not a classic but the pressing and off the ball work was the best this season against a good team. But a great big Shoutout to Gillead and Halliday who were fantastic today in my opinion

Apart from his poor backpass, which Lewis got him put of jail with, I thought Taylor did ok today tbf. Credit where it is due.

Ki-Ron Kelly was the pick of the CBs though - made some good interceptions and had his best game in the shirt.

I must hold my hand up RE Smith. Said earlier in year I thought he lacked composure. That was an excellent finish. Well done son. That cup hattrick has woken him up.

didnt think first half was a classic but second half was better. We look good with the wingbacks bombing on and Richards did well again.

gillead was very good again, likewise Smallwood.

Cook missed another easy header.

 

What was the ref all about today?
Small man syndrome?

Always thought he was a decent ref(probably based on the playoff final) but today he was so petty with lots of little pedantic things that he really didn’t need to get involved in.

 

Smith was harshly treated when he got foul given against him, not for, then got booked!

 

Not a lot of interest in him whilst he’s there tbh. If he comes back I will then, but I get your drift.

How strange opinions are. Today was the first time in years I've seen us go 1.0 into the last quarter and have absolutely no nerves or fear of conceding. Did Accrington even have a corner let alone a shot on target ?

I thought Taylor had a good game apart from one lapse, and in the second half Richards was excellent. Cook was in the game more and linked attack and midfield well, and Lewis looked his old self.

Overall, apart from their number 55 (first half only) they didn't have a stand out player and looked very average.
